Mid-week shows

Thanks Jerry for the insite to why short tracks dont race mid week. Fans have to go to work and so forth and so on and dont buy tickets . 4th is a no work day and if it is wed they dont have anything to do and dont get enough days off to go out of town..
Local short track racing fits that demo..

I know it's amazing that it only affects people in Florida but the rest of the country can do it. Heck, it's even hotter in other parts of the country right now.
BTW, Frasson was answering your question abut why Daytona didn't have their race on the fourth. It doesn't take hours to get out of a short track and on the road after a race. There's no way you're going to get out of Daytona by 10 PM and be on the road home and in bed by midnight, if you have any traveling to do. He did agree with one of your arguments for not having Sunday racing though. The daytime heat and daytime racing.
All this discussion is irrelevant as long as none of the owners are willing to try it.
BTW, I should probably add, weeknight racing in the wet Summer months is probably not a good idea, but it shouldn't be ruled out for other times.

We have365 days 52 weekends to race. In NY ware i hang out they have 20 weeks that they can race AND DONT WANT TO RUN MID WEEK!

Don't know where you hang out in NY but I'm from the upstate area. The midweek shows are the most well attended, and have all their "big names" at those races. Racers can race up to 6 nights a week some weeks, and some of them do. I use to go to a lot of midweek shows and I preferred them over the regular shows. Maybe things have changed in the past year but it use to be that way. Maybe the asphalt crowd is different, as most of my attendance was on dirt. I'm going to assume you're referring to them. Asphalt guys seem to like a lot more practice and they might have an issue with midweek shows if they insist on lots of practice.

I'm calling complete BS on that one Don. Look through Raceny.com and you'll find a race being held almost every night during this part of the year. If you had the time, money and energy, you could probably find a race 5 nights a week right now.

You might be right about Holland Speedway (I assume this is one you meant), as they are barely hanging on as it is. Low car counts, and trouble putting fans in seats. Most tracks in NY, especially the dirt ones, are doing pretty well and the mid-week shows are packing in the cars and fans.

Tes i have been to Holland Speedway for the past 10 years for 3 or 4 weeks of there racing season.
Also start in Ga and make stops all the way up there. SC NC WV PA then NY.
Non of them that i go to are dirt.
None of the tracks that i go to have a reg mid week race. Most of them do a 4th mid week and a Sun the first week or the last week.
There are 10 tracks on my that i stop at or talk to on a reg bases. I quit going this year and dont do any promoting of race events anymore.
I hope that your right and all the tracks ..not dirt..are having great shows mid week they sure could use the income. the northern tracks are droping out like the tracks in the south.
There are alwase a few tracks in some locations that do great but its not the norm in these tough times .
Try helping the local tracks but going and getting new people there insted of trying to run there track for them..
I am just a spectator and racer now and i try to go to a different track atlease 2 times a month. That is all we can aford.
So far inverness is the trach that gave us the best welcome.
Am trying to get to bronson next then to Desoto Speedway my home track

Dons right, no track in Florida can support a mid-week show unless it's a special event or a holiday. Hell, most Florida tracks can't even have a good weekend show and those that can would screw up their weekend if they had a mid-week show.

Hmmmm..... I seem to remember the first few Powell Memorials at Ocala being run mid-week, and not attached to any holiday. It was always packed with fans and cars. I also recall a PRA race at USA on a Wednesday that was filled to the gills.

I don't remember very many (if ANY attempts) the tracks down here have tried. The ones I do remember were successful.

We took in a mid week show at Thunder Road Thurs. June 28th and the place was well attended with racers & fans.
The show started 6:30 pm sharp and only ran three classes and wrapped up around 9:45.
Last week they were running a Tues.ACT series & Thurs show.

A great night of racing!

Don, if you are writing about Sunshine Speedway and how bad the track was doing when they closed. Yes, the crowds were down, late model count was down. However, on any given night grandstand and pits had just as many people and cars then any other track in FL. So whats your point.

just started about 118 saying there were 5,000 people there (showtime). It was a great turnout and a good show but it wont work on Wed agin till they have a reopening aftre being closed for a lot of years on the 4th of july wed.. 10 years from now..
And Yes i know im wrong but i spent my money and time for 35 years babbysiting some of you for the wright to be wrong EZ!!
Jerry you were there and we were looking for you to stop down it the pits and see us.

Powell Yep i was there we all suported James and alwase will.
As for USA speedway they never had a event at anythie that was profitable without some big spunsor paying the bill.
If i had a sponsor for 150,000 for a wed event like they did it would be on also.
If it could be done on any night and be profitible UAS would still be there and so many more.
Jerry there are plenty of breafcace or keyboard promoters in the world but only a few trash picking bathroom cleaning tractor driving promoters left.

Midval Speedway

I spent many weekends racing at Midvale Speedway. Not only do they fill the stands, they fill and I mean FILL the pits. On any given Saturday night, it would not be unusual to see the stands bulging at the seams. The pits at Midvale are a three level set up. Each level of the pits has the capabilities of holding near 75 cars. I have seen the Main Event Series with a normal weekly schedule have over 200 cars in the pits. I still think the difference is that there are very few asphalt tracks to pick from to race at. They do know how to pull in the fans and the cars though.
