Strange as it may seem, I had never seen the practice of only sending one car to the back until I moved to Florida. Yes it seems unfair to send the victim to the back also, but that's the way it's been done since I was born over 50 years ago. It seems to me that only sending one car to the rear leaves a lot of discretion to the officials. Who's to know if the person was actually trying to spin a car out? If Nascar had this rule, Dale Earnhardt would have won a lot less races. It seems to me there is a lot more blocking with this rule. Unfair as it seems, I'm in favor of sending all the cars involved in the wreck to the rear. Now if the person that caused the wreck/spin isn't involved in the wreck, he either retains his position or is black flagged for rough driving. That again become a discretionary call by the official. I've seen many of my favorites spun out over the years and thought the person that caused it should have been penalized. Usually they weren't, unless it was very obviously a flagrant foul. One of the most popular phrases I've heard from officials, in Florida, with this rule, is "Was it just racing or intentional?" You'll hear a lot less of that if all cars causing a caution are sent to the rear. I also think you'll see more "racing" and less blocking without this rule. Sure it's reasonable to take a line and try to keep someone behind you, but don't spend so much time using the mirror and running a competitor into the wall or infield. Do it like the dirt cars do and take the mirrors and radios out of the cars. JMO
