This board is for the diehard short track fan and thats good but dont make it more than it is.
I have seen it, and done it to see who is reading. Gave everyone a free ticket that read the add and 23 people responded. Wake up. Im as much a race fan as anyone and have never been to see micky mouse. And i do read this and other sits like this to see what happend last week so i can stay home and thats one of the things that is wrong...Do not get it>>

Do you really believe Sunday racing is a dead option? I see some benefits but there is always more to a story.

No light bill, no competition (NASCAR excluded people can listen via MRN or watch via cell phone while there.) Shorten season to more of a fall winter spring range.
adjust your rules with weight, & other easy adjustments, etcetera to accomodate all cars from around the state. start early afternoon to catch the church goers. Heck bring in a chaplain have early service at the track. have only 4 classes total each week.

Just a few ideas. anyway your thoughts on this being you have a few years experience?

If sunday was so great NASCAR would have all there races on sun..
In the north they rece 20 weeks a year so there were a lot of sunday races. Now there are verry few. Most of them in the first and last week of the season trying to get buy the cold for a extra week.
In florida most sundays ore hot in the sun and chirch is on sunday sso all the good cousstmers are all cleaned up for chirch and dont want to sit on a board in the sun.
Then there is a groop that work on monday and wont travel verry far to go to a race on sun.
Now think about the fan that doesent go to chirch and doesent go to work on monday...He is broke but sun.
Weather you think im right of wrong think of how this makes the avalable fan for the track smaller.
Ok some one will come. When you make a mistake as a promoter you pay in cash and kill the fan for the next race. God knows that i have made all of them and there are hard to forget.
The sunday races that i have done are not hard for me to rember. 25 to 1 at lakecity that made money...It was dirt then and monday was a holaday.
      that is my 2cents worth.
Dont try to talk the new promoter into sunday. You are not helping him..

If TV ratings were better on Sunday's Nascar would have all their races then. It just happens the primetime races offer the best opportunity for large ratings.
Not sure what part of the north you are talking about but Sunday races are still weekly venues at some tracks and they do very well. I actually enjoyed going to a Sunday afternoon show. They were well run efficient programs that had you on your way home before 10 PM most weeks, and usually much earlier. I found them a great time to unwind from my weekend activities and I would relax on the trip home.
Someone convinced me that Sunday races won't work in Florida because of the heat. Like I said, they convinced me and I think that's the only legitimate argument against Sunday racing here. I think Sunday afternoons might work well for an asphalt track that ran during the winter months (December through March) but none seem to do that. Dirt tracks tend to get hard slick with daytime racing.
Last year there was a Sunday show at Ocala during speedweeks. It was packed and is still talked about as being the best late model race of the year by many.

So Winger all the tracks are missing out buy not running on sunday .
Wonder why the race on sat night?
The places i was talking about up north was PA and Eastern NY. thats ware iv been the last few years. most of the tracks still have 1 or 2 sunday races.
The have not done well with them in years. Im sure there is some place that has a profitable race on sun but its not in the south or PA or eastern NY.
Tell is who has had one this year.

              Don, you misunderstood my post.
1: Nascar doesn't schedule all it's races on Sunday's now because they can get much higher TV ratings by racing on Saturday nights.
2: I assumed it was obvious that a Saturday night venue is preferable. But if a particular geographic region is saturated with race tracks, it would benefit a track to look at the Sunday (or Friday) option. It can and does work for some. I also said it probably can't work in Florida because of the heat.

Where is the line dividing Western and Eastern New York? LOL The next time you're in Eastern New York take a Sunday afternoon trip to Utica/Rome Speedway. They start their program around 5 and the stands will be full, the car counts are very good, and the racing great. I'd also suggest you to take a trip to Weedsport but they aren't running right now. The place is facing possibile foreclosure because the World Racing Group hasn't paid their taxes. But they ran Sunday's for decades and were very successful. Both of these tracks are about an hour apart and did well racing on Sundays. They are located in an area where there are quite a few tracks. Most of those race Saturday's but a few race Friday evenings with success. A couple others are special event only facilities.

There are alot of thing they can do.It was along time ago in 1992 ,when my dad raced and when someone won the race they would let little kids get in a group around the winners car and get there picture took. Kids loved it. They could do buy one get one tickets more often , yeah they let one person in free but they will gain in food sales. A good tech man helps too keep the car by the rules and make for tighter racing.NO ONE wants to see a one car show, it geting boring going to the same racetrack to watch the same 1 or 2 guys win.

winger i did look at those places and had a few friends that raced and worked there in the past. That is what gave me the idea to try it here. If you do the homework i did most of my track promoting on Fri night. That did work for us for years but sunday did not. I think that after the new promoter gets a tast of that sunday killing he might loose his taste for the whole thing and it hard to find them.. Just trying to help. I realey dont care when they race..Just hope they keep swinging so i can go to a race now and then..

Hope to see ya at the races

O yea i forgot TV. The network pickes the day not NASCAR. The ratings for the races are driven buy the concumer to the the advtiser.
The tracks had to install lights to get the TV money..Big money..
I know all about TV ratings..
Look at witch races are on network vs cable and you can tell ware the ratings are.
