Is it the goal of Ocala Speedway, to be the only dirt track left in Florida? Why would you schedule your Late Models portion of Speedweeks on the same weekend as East Bay? Now, with both East Bay and Volusia moving their schedule back a week, you have the first two weeks that do not conflict with either track. Obviously, Bubba and his staff has done a great job, since taking over the track, and I really enjoy the races at his facility. Just seems that every move they make has the intent of hurting another track.

There is clearly a pattern here. He is doing the same thing to North Florida Speedways Annual Turkey Trot which has been a big hit for several years now and not only is he going against them on dates he is paying more for the late models to insure he can do maximum damage. I can only hope there will be enough late models and some track loyalty to give Phil and Liz a chance. While they do not have the $$$ behind them that Ocala has they have tried hard to provide a good track and a reasonable payout. I wish them all the luck as I feel they deserve it.Originally posted by leftfield View PostIs it the goal of Ocala Speedway, to be the only dirt track left in Florida? It's simple...He is running a business! If you were running a business and your competitors were running a big sale or special on a certain date would you lay down and say " They did it first so they can have it " No, you would be like hey there is going to be a lot of people out on this day and I want some of the action! I thnk it's great what bubba is doing, he's not trying to close track he is in competion for business and he is making other area track step up to the level he is on. Just to note bubba's speedweek late model show is for World of Outlaws and Eastbays is Lucas. I'm confident that there will be good shows at both tracks with an exuberant amount of cars. As for paying late models 1750, That is great that what WE should get paid. When you have 30k plus in a racecar would want to race for 800? Although all the cars at eastbay race for 800, they also don't go to ocala, so eastbay isn't losing cars. Bubba is running a great track and successful business the way a racetrack should be ran and in a way as to thrive as a business. I think the problem with the other florida tracks is the are not ran very well as a business.

To run a great business in my opinion, for instance like retail stores, you can't go advertising a big sale on items on a certain date, and mark the price back up a couple of weeks before the big day of the sale that has been advertised for awhile!,like he done with the thunder stock enduro race that was advertised since april or may to pay $10,000 not $3,000 what it has dropped down too so far and also the samething with the 4cylinder gladiator division it was cut way down aswell. Also been hearing from a few people is that the "Big" points money that was supposed to be paid out to the drivers is also going to be cut down,Don't know if thats for sure or not....but I guess we will all see if that holds true when the time comes... just sayin....DENISE

What fan is going to enjoy going to East Bay or Ocala, that week, knowing that only half the big names are going to be at each track????
The race fans get screwed.

Volusia went under because Ken Sands is a crooked S.O.B, The problem with these tracks having small payout is because they have to many classes. There should be Late models,Modifieds,Super Stocks aka Sportsmans,Strictly Stocks, and 4 cyl. beginner class. You can only run two years in the 4cyl then have to move up, to give opportunity to new drivers.
Payouts as follows:
lm-1500
mods-1000
spr stock-750
stcly stock-500
4 cyl-350
Then you could bring sprints in for specials!
I even have my own rule book created...if anyone is interested..lol, So when I buy a florida track it will be competitive and thrive!

I don't think any track should run a beginner or rookie type class.for one there is'nt that many rookies just starting racing within a couple of seasons for a track to have good car counts in that class.(2) alot of the people who race in that division or choose that division is because it's inexspensive and that's what thier racing funds can only afford.and last but not least how is a puppy (Rookie) going to learn how to be competitive if they can't follow or run with the "Big Dogs" (veterans) to learn?...lolOriginally posted by SavagePerformance View Postand 4 cyl. beginner class. This is nothing new.... Volusia & East Bay have gone head-to-head sever times during past Speedweeks. And the car count and quality was very good at both. it probably HELPED the car counts, seeing that the top drivers were split, it gave a lot of mid-level racers a better chance of getting in an A-Main, and collect a few dollars. Not many guys will travel all the way here, knowing theirs only a snowballs chance of running any feature races.
This is getting blown way out of proportion.
