Ok, so I am putting my numbers all the way up by the front fender.

That is silly to think anyone is going to back out unless they are up that far. All it takes is a couple of inches to move someone from a lane, inside or out.

you're starting to get the hang of how to think about this racing thing.

but with a full coverage helmet and any protection on the seat that is a blind spot for the driver.

that's why i classified it as "Spotter racing". if you don't have somebody on the radio yelling at you there's no way to know the car is there.

most of us don't like it but she's right, that is the way these classes are flagged and driven. this is part of the reason for why there's so little outside passing nowadays. why bother to learn how to get around the outside when you can just stick your nose inside a guy 6" and he'll give up the spot?

ummm, but you still have to get past them. and as you go by, the positional / car control advantage ( which is why it's so stupid for a slow car to be blocking a fast car in the first place ) shifts from you to them.

let me put this another way. don't EVER do this to Ron. there's a good chance you won't make it out of the corner. he'll do his damndest to pass you clean but he expects the same in return. if you think you've got business steering his car for him he very well might just return the favor to you.

of course, you don't have to worry about him trying to block you off the track either.

I run a mirror on the a-pillar bar in my cars. I started doing this in legends cars and trained myself to check it before going into each corner to be sure im not coming down on someone. usually if someone got a bumper to my tire I would go ahead and give them the spot. Unfortunately not too many returned the favor. Im a firm believer that if i get far enough up on you that if you come down on me my tire will hit in front of your rear tire, and you come down on me, hold on cause we are going for a ride. I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to someone trying to pass me. I dont want to be the guy that everyone talks about being bad about cutting you off. I also dont jack someone up until they really agitate me. I can understand being a mirror driver if you are leading with 5 to go. Heaven knows ive made cars as wide as a double wide trailer in the last couple laps. But if its 5 laps into the race or im passing you for 2nd or 3rd. Be a sport and let me go. I will definitely do the same when the shoe is on the other foot.

Jack me up to pass me without doing it legitmately, and expect my left front to make contact with your right rear as we come up off the corner.
