    The Rules

I honestly think you would have to have one set of rules for the SERIES. As you all have read from these posts the rules vary from track to track. The problem with this is you may lose some of the track regulars from track to track. The sportsman have some good car counts at a few different tracks and it would be a shame to have them sit out because of the rules.

    1. citrus...58% left side and motor variations
    2. Auberndale....56% left side and motor variations
    3. punta gorda.....no three links....goodyear tire

these are just a few examples. You would prob. have to allow quick changes as well.

I dont no the answers but would try to support the series as long as it was an even playing field. D.Miller 21 sportsman

Don I dont know what I said that pissed you off. People dont like you, I didn't say I didn't like you. Yes I feel I had a huge advantage, and still do every time I show up at the track. With Brad on my side, we are a tough combo to beat, in "lower as some people call it" sportsman raciing. You have to admit when you changed from Goodyears to Hoosiers you sold more tire's, if you didn't it's because so many people got pissed off that there was a change, that they either quit, or said I'll never race for him again.
You also know I supported you and your series, I did radio shows, and begged people to come back, I gave it my all to make it work, I Love Traveling To Race. I will never be a weekly racer again, it's just not me.

And as far as letting me cheat, you would have loved to DQ me as much as any other official in the state.

I will have a new crate motor soon and will be back reaking havoc, every time there is a 50 lapper that pops up I will be there, and yes so will Brad.

You took it wrong and im not pissed at you.
You were the better of the teams to work wiith.
You domonating the races did kill a lit of the care. Im not saying you should change anything. I gust didnt think that the statement was fair. I also know that some people dont like me but there are none that i can think of right that i have dont like. well maybe 1 or 2 but they are not racers.

        good luck raceing

So Don, you're saying that Patrick killed that series? yes he did win a bunch of races, but several guys had multiple wins also. Changing the rules (tires) sounds like a big reason cars couldn't afford to show up anymore. It was the same year the Mini-Stock Challenge and the Mod Tour also crashed & burned. I'm guessing those were Patricks fault also?

No matter what, it's never the Don's fault.

To your suprise ill be crewing a sportsman car next year.
Am planing to go to the 50 lap races every ware that we are welcomed.
Didnt say it was Patricks falt. His and Freds car won all the races for two years. they had good teams and did a good job.
I think you will see some new ideas in the car that we bring . Im looking foward to racing with Patrick and Fred. You have to beat the best to be anybody.
I do hope they dont limit the drivers and any tire that is black and round is good for us. Any rules and any tracks . we will run buy any rules just them.
print them Rember the only one you have to blame for not winning is yourself. Not the promoter track officals or other teams. Just you !!
Jerry i wish i could tell you what happend.

Bill, I was tech at Adale for 11 yrs and tech some for the SSS. In 08 I called a meeting in tampa to get some rules set for the sportsman class for the whole state thus the Florida Sportsman Alliance. Adale, Desoto, Punta Gora, and Citrus to some extent. I had every track owner there but only 15 racers. I thought the meeting went very well and all of the owners were willing to make the changers and most did, hell Bobby at CCMP and John at Desoto both said sent us what you have and we will sign off on it. So if I can help you give me a call. 863-289-1339 Thanks Ted.

#1 the series started out very limited, very tight tech, low dollar parts, no crazy, exotic, lightweight parts. At the end of the series I was over a second faster at Nss than I was the first time I brought my SSS car there. It takes too much money for the average racer too make those changes.
#2 When Todd hutto sold the series to Don Nerone, well we all know what happened, People dont like Don, the first 2 races of 2007 had 24 and 22 car's in them. The car count went way down from there. The tech became nonexistant, the the inversion went away, and so did the competitors.
#3 The other thing that changed was the tire. We went from the Goodyear 8" tread to the Hoosier 8" slick. The Goodyear cost us $424.00 a set and you could get 4 races out of the right and 6 out of the lefts. The Hoosier tires costs us $540.00 and you got 1 race out of the rights and 2 out of the lefts.

Bill I would love to talk to you before you talk to the track's, and if we could get on the same page, I am sure a series could and will work.

To be fair that series started dieing during 06. Because of drivers coming into the series saying they were going to be champ no matter what it takes. And Todd started losing control of it. As did tech. Todd by then had 3 series going Mini, SSS and Mods. If he had left it at 2 series at most that would have helped. Plus he had Eastbay. By 08 I'm not sure you could even call it a series anymore. At best it was a shadow of what it once was. It no longer had all the top drivers in the state like it did the first 2 or 3 years. And that's to bad because they really put on a great show for the fans. I wish this try well but remember, it's a different world and economy out there now! Good Luck

                              Rick

You know Rick, it took me a while to agree, and I still don't think the economy is all of it, but you're right, the economy is a LOT differant. While I'm very fortunate this yr, doing better for the time of yr than the last 4 yrs and I don't know why. I still say the economy stinks. Maybe things like this series, and a good truck series will help. I intend to try to support them.

He is getting alot of good ideas from posters on here that were part of the SSS. I think one thing that will help the most is holding meetings for the past and want to be drivers to add their input. Or at least those drivers call or email him. And then he puts it all together in a fair fun way for the drivers and fans that will make it so they want to race in it. And the fans want to see it.
