I was on my back from Atlanta a few years back and after spotting several race cars on open trailers I decided to follow one. Ended up at Watermelon Capital (Cordele) and saw one of the best shows ever.
Now, if I HAD an enclosed trailer, I would probably keep it "plain" on the outside. I don't want anyone breaking in thinking they're gonna find a bunch of expensive tools and stuff! In fact, I might have it lettered with something like, "John's Chicken Manure Farm"!sigpic

Hey Tunahead: you wanna know what's wrong with that picture? They probably got more money tied up in the damn trailers than they do in the race cars. Enclosed trailers....for a *Street Stock*...and you don't see a problem with that, huh? And, for once, I gotta agree with you. If you got more than about $5,000 tied up in a *Street Stock* or a "Super Stock", you *should* probably move up a class.
Hell, as far as the open trailer thing goes...Dad still runs a Super Late Model when he can afford to, and never once in 36 years have we ever had an enclosed trailer. He's probably the *only* SLM in the state of Florida still using an open trailer and a Ford crew-cab dually to pull the thing.

Yeah, I think we could cut costs by eliminating trailers altogether. Heck, my dad towed his race car to the track with a towbar hooked to a station wagon. LOL One night the tire from the race car passes the car towing it. That wasn't suppose to happen. Seriously, I don't have a problem with enclosed trailers. J-mac, closed trailers are not killing racing. They certainly do not help in any way, but there are plently of other factors that are more effectively trying to finish it off.
Btw, there are several open trailers with SLMs on them at Orlando, and many, many more on dirt.

It goes right back to its the owners and promotors to promote their tracks. I believe there's covered trailers at PGS, Citrus, Volusia and others and look at the crowds there. The owners and promotors at the tracks with no fans or cars need to stop blaming the fans and drivers for all their woes.

Rex, I get what you're saying...it's NOT the enclosed trailers themselves...but it's certainly not *necessary* for a "Street Stock" type division.
