All tracks need a professional Media/PR person but are unwilling to PAY for that position... all they want is someone to do it for free whether it's a retired person looking for something to do or a high school/college intern... Really sad nowadays....
Billie Harvey used to bring 15 cars to a race WITH HIM!!! Say what you want to about the guy, but he absolutely LOVED racing...

      Helping Central Fl. Racing

We have approached some of the track owners about putting the show Raceweek back on the air but no body has the money to do so. At OSW and NSS the Gorden Motorsports shoot the racing and just makes DVD to buy. If you guys want media to show racing in the Central Florida Tracks everybody needs to call the tracks and say we need it. I have 2 guys that would love to do it, they just need about $1000 a week to edit and stories on all of the local teams and drivers. They can make tv commercials

Getting the $$$ to do anything like what you just mentioned is like pulling teeth out of a rattlesnake... nearly impossible... POST FX has been doing live webcasts from Volusia the past two years and can't get anyone to step up and help fund it other than Rick Barsness who runs a pizza chain out of MISSOURI... Oh, lots of folks say Great idea! You are doing a great job, we'd like to get involved... But when it comes time to open up their wallets they are nowhere to be found... plus the track, that benefits the most from the exposure and can utilize it as a very good marketing tool, won't help either...
That's why there are no webcasts (so far) there this year... Other tracks can do the same thing but it's amazing how management just seems disinterested..
If you really want your track to be successful, as with any business/product, you've got to market yourself 24/7....

          Karnacians!

Lets all Quit the bitching and insulting... The people who do take care of this board do it out of kindness and do not get paid a penny. Jack is horribly ill and couldnt do this if he wanted to. and he is actually sad about that. Rick works full time and so do i.... so how can we continue bringing people the latest news. We can stop the bitching and we can all post interesting news including crowds, car counts, ..everything devoted to racing.
Hopefully Jack will recuperate and gain strength and be back with a vengeance. If not then the least we can do is help!
we are adults. we dont need moderators for crying out loud! Bring a pad to the races and keep notes of all the interesting things you see and hear and share them with our racing community.
i tried for many years but im so damn weak now i cant do it. doesnt mean i dont care. and if i do care someone always has the ill manners to insult me. truth is i dont give a damn. i will still promote racing in any way i can.
John Berti has offered to help. all you have to do TRACK OWNERS is send him information! he is part of the KARNAC/REAL RACIN team.
we can point fingers all day long but the truth is we can all PROMOTE.... doesnt cost a dime to talk or post!
I for one dont want 12 years of hard work to go down the drain... lets plug the leak and fill up the sink with RACING NEWS thats happening NOW.....

Carol... Our comments on here, first of all, have nothing to do with KARNAC, yourself or John Berti... and we all are praying Jack Smith will make it thru this latest set-back and be back doing what he loves very soon...
The fact is... most FL tracks don't see fit to promote, report or market what they have to the general public...
Thank goodness we have KARNAC and a couple other sites, plus people like yourself and John who put forth a lot of effort, otherwise we really would not know much about what's going on...
The bad thing is... what percentage of the general public (who like racing or sports in general) have any idea a site like this one exists... and most people don't spend the hours on the 'puter each day like we do...

John, that is a quote by a membership of FASCAR on this very forum within the last couple weeks. Sorry, you can't blame me for that.

I'm not putting you down at all, just telling you how it is. FFS is set up to post news as soon as it's received. It's forum is being used more and more, even by asphalt fans now. For instance, Bubba made an announcement several hours ago regarding some big plans for Ocala and nothing has been posted on this site, until I made a small post in another topic. However, the talk has been rampant on FFS and Facebook since then. Even Rick Anges has commented on facebook but hasn't made any mention on here, and he's suppose to be an administrator. This site seems to have become a Punta Gorda cheering section and Tuna playground lately. No one takes it seriously as a racing site any longer. It's really too bad but since Jack has stepped back, it just isn't the same. This post isn't meant to bash but to explain what has happened.
Thanks wing ding, I didn't know you were capable of such kindness!

Hey Tuna! I am very glad to see that this statement is not attributable to you. You did not say that it is New Smyrna's view of promoting so I automatically thought it was yours.

No problem John, I understand. Regardless of what some think (obviously I don't care) LOL I have always stood up for the drivers and fans. You know John, some tracks say they're running a business and they won't even take advantage of free advertising, I just don't get it.
