To my knowledge, Todd Bodine never drove the 2x, and I'm pretty sure Geoff didn't either. Brett Bodine did run for Bob. A few others were both Ron & Kenny Bouchard.
Another of the Eastern Bandits was Denny Zimmerman, who is planning on making it to this years Mod Reunion. Also hoping for Pete Hamilton (another Bandit), a former winner at both Daytona and Talladega.
There is also a tribute car built to all the original specs of the 2x Pinto, owned and built by Tobi Smith of Titusville.

Here's an article about your friend Bob Judkins.
**** Ask Bob Judkins who has driven for him since he started building racecars in the early sixties, and you’ll hear a who’s who of auto racing legends.* Jerry Wheeler first drove Judkin’s ’37 Ford Coupe at Plainville, followed by Tony Mordino,* and then Billy Harmon.* It was Ed Flemke who first asked Bob to paint the number 2x on his car.* At that time, Flemke was running with the Eastern Bandits, and there was a 1x, a 3x, and a 4x.* “Put 2x on the car, and I’ll drive it”, Flemke told him.** Judkins and Flemke began competing at the Norwood Arena.* Mario “Fats” Caruso, Rene Charland, and Gene Bergin all drove the ’37 Ford.
**** Judkin’s second coupe was a ’36 Chevy, and he continued to hire a host of notable drivers, including Kenny Shoemaker and Maynard Forette.* In later years Reggie Ruggerio and Brett Bodine took their turns in the 2x.**
**** In 1971, Judkins introduced a new style of racecar, hanging a pinto body on the famous 2x.* NASCAR was not ready to do away with the pre-war coupe bodied racers, and they refused to allow the pinto-bodied car to compete.* Stafford’s Jack Arute tried to convince NASCAR to allow the 2x to run, telling Bill France, Sr. that the new body style was the “future of racing”.* When he was not able to convince France through letters and phone calls, Arute made the trip down to Daytona Beach to persuade France face to face, clearing the way for Judkin’s 2x to be the first pinto bodied NASCAR modified.
**** Judkins went on excel at Riverside Park, with the late Dave Caruso, then Jerry Marquis having driven the car to many victories.* Bob currently resides in Florida, and has won track championships at both the Orlando Speedworld and New Smyrna tracks. In his fifth decade of fielding a racecar, Bob Judkins continues to be highly competitive.* Last year, Judkins entered the 2x in 47 races, coming away with 11 feature wins.* Today, we welcome Bob Judkins into the NEAR Hall of Fame.*****************************

I don't doubt anything you said Don after your corrected yourself concerning the picture of the 1937 Chevrolet Coupe and the pinto photograph. I simply answered the question CORRECTLY about the 1937 Chevrolet Coupe. Good grief.
Nobody jumped on you, end of discussion. Welcome back, again.

FLEMKE was the innovator of the split spring front end which became known as the
"FLEMKE FRONT END" and was a genius in understanding the working of the race car
chassis when no one else even thought about it. Ed had over 600 wins that can be
documented, and amazingly enough, probably another 300 to 400 there is no record of.
Now you would think if Eddie was your friend you would know there are two Ed Flemkes. Sr was the one that drove the 2x pictured above and his son Eddie Flemke Jr come along after him. Tunamans story is probably almost correct but the car was only off by about 40 years. It's still a good story to hear even if it's a little off.

Another misquote. Bobby Judkins is my friend, still lives in Edgewater. Came from Conn. Raced all over N.E also all the way down to Martinsville. They were also friend with Gene Bergerene, Bugsy Stevens 3 times Northern Modified champion.. I did not knoe Eddie Flemke, but one of them drove the car for Bobby Judkins in the late 60's This car won the 3nd Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway AND the first race at Stafford ever run on asphalt.Originally posted by UREZ2PASS View PostI'm not that smart, I just know how to google !

correction
I was wrong, Bobby built the Pinto after this. This is obviously a coupe. But if you research you will see Bobby did build the first on a pinto body, he also built one on a Maverick but not sure if it was the first.

That car is a 1/25 scale model of Eddie Flemkes 1937 CHEVROLET Coupe. He could have possibly been the best modified driver on the east coast. He also was the first racecar builder to use a certain type of front suspension.
Anybody know what front suspension he was the first to use ?

Built by my friend Bobby Judkins. The first Northern Mod built with a pinto body. He also built one with a maverick body, not sure if it was the first one or not. His cars were also driven by All 3 Bodine Brothers, Gene Bergeren (SP) Buggsy Stephens and who knows who else/ Bobby is in the Northern Hall of Fame. Bobby also had Fl mods at OSW and NSS for several yrs, driven by several drivers. Jason Boyd, Jimmy Winks to name a few. Quit the FL mods and now has a Northern Mod he leaves in COnn. (I believe) His grandson drives it up there and a couple races in NSS during speed weeks. There, now i made a racing related post o'k? And I want to wish all you useless left handed lug nut my congratulations. This is my last post on KARNAC, I have told admin, whoever that is that I'm tired of its double standards!! You luggies have ruined 2 other forums and it wont be long before this one is ruined. BYE!!! oh, p.s. the 2x is the car that got screwed on OSW 3-4 yrs ago that BOney called me a liar about. Bet you don't dare leave this up for a day Rick!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA
