You got the name right Jimmy... Herman Beam... Beam earned the nickname “Turtle” during his career because his idea was to finish races rather than run hard and risk a crash or mechanical failure. That led Beam to a NASCAR Cup record that still stands today. From 1961 through 1963, Beam was still running at the finish of 84 consecutive Cup races. Both Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer have come close in recent years but "Turtle" still has 'em covered. He was actually black-flagged at Daytona one year because he had forgotten to put his helmet on...
