I know Mike did some Busch racing in the late '90's but I don't remember any "CUP" starts. And don't remember Jimmy doing any Nascar stuff. You are right on with Pletcher though. I work at the Ford dealer that he had on the side of the car. He and Moyer had the car here one Saturday just before the Daytona race. P.S. don't tell TUNA that Kinser drove for Kenny Bernstein in the Quaker State car or he'll call you Professor again. And he DID suck bad.
Even though you jumped on the "smart ass" band wagon, at LEAST you got the point, I'm amazed!! Its the same thing as holding someones jock, as I was informed, thats not the point. Damn, I do love the banter on here, you guys are funny!!

Yep, looked it up on Racing-Reference.com. Jimmy made one start at New Hamsphire for (I believe) LaWarre was the name I recall (same guy that owned Mike Garvey's #0 Busch car, the blue and black car outta Titusville), and and I know I saw Mike's name on that list as well, although, I don't recall that I looked at what track he started at.

P.S. don't tell TUNA that Kinser drove for Kenny Bernstein in the Quaker State car or he'll call you Professor again.
Hahahhaaaaa....and yes, I did tell Tuna (via PM, to keep it off the boards) that Kinser drove for Kenny Bernstein, not Bud Moore, and he proceeded to cuss me up one side and down the other. Should I take it as a compliment that he calls me "Professor", which tells *me* that I know my stuff when it comes to a lot of racing info? I guess some people just can't let things go.

Ya know...I *never* claimed to be intelligent. I never claimed to be smart. But...I do know that I've been around racing long enough (especially in the '70s and '80s) to not *try* and sound like an idiot. If I do end up sounding like one, it's of my own accord...not on purpose...LOL...but some people...just seem like they don't even check their facts, even when provided with those facts, by or from other people, *that they ask for*.

I also know that I'm smart enough to provide my real name (not to take anything away from Rex, Jim Higginwhatshisname, OJ, Roger, etc.). Don't know why, but some people just refuse to reveal themselves on a message board. God or bad? I don't know. Guess some folks just have things to hide.

Well, where do you think the majority of Cup drivers should come from, NHL????
I think the point was, that a lot of guys in the "big leagues" - to some of us, anyways - haven't really "paid their dues" on the short tracks of America like they used to. Juan Pablo Cartegena Martinez Montoya, Marcus Ambrose, Allmendinger, Menard, Jimmie Johnson, Robby Gordon, Greg Biffle, Brian Vickers, Andy Lally...just to name a few...who decided they were bored with what they were already doing (a lot of wine-and-cheese racers in that group, two off-roaders, one whose daddy had a ton of money sitting around...) and never really ran a "stock car" before going to Cup. Biffle is maybe the only exception in that group; he was running Late Models out west when Benny Parsons introduced him to Roush during the old Winter Heat series at Tuscon. But then again, he'd only been running Late Models for a year before that, then to the Trucks, and then to Nationwide and Busch. These guys don't spend any time any more learning in the lower divisions. Aric Almirola's another good example. He's supposedly from Tampa. I'd never heard of the kid - ever - until he got that Truck ride a few years back. I asked around, you know, where's he from, where'd he run locally, and no one could tell me, because they'd never heard of him, either, until that point. So, to reply to Andre's question...sure, the *majority* of Cup drivers *might* come from the short tracks, but there's a lot of the "non-stock-car"-pedigree type that're in good rides right now, that should've gone to guys that *have* proven themselves in "stock cars" before.

Oh - and to satisfy Tunafish: yes, Kinser was absolutely *terrible* in a stock car. I still remember when he won that IROC race at Talladega because ol' Ironhead pushed him to the front

        Another sucker

To further prove Tunaman's point. At the same time that Kinser was trying his hand at cup racing , Sammy Swindell was giving him a run for his money as the "most likely to spin out all by himself " award winner.

Always admired Joe Nemechek's climb up the ladder . I raced against him at the "OLD" Dade City MX track in the late 70's. Then he raced stock cars from the bottom up. Mini stocks, "old" lakeland Late models, USA series Late Models, All Pro Late models, Busch series, Cup series, then owner, then my favorite thing he did. Helped David Reutimann get his foot in the door.

You Mr. Professor are a liar. You did NOT ask me to keep it off the forum. In fact, I told you to leave me to hell alone, I told you to keep it off the forum and I would also. I said I dont care about your ability look up shit that has nothing to do with whats being discussed in the first point. Shit that happened 25 yrs ago when you were young enough to maybe make some sense. They say you start living in the past when you reach 70 or 80, I guess thats when you start losing it!! How long was it before you brought me up on here? 1 day, and then you lie. Oh, I'm just busting your chops!!!

Joe Nemechick is one of the nicest guy that ever drove a race car, and one of the most talented.

I'll acknowledge Kinser sucked in Cup but I never mentioned dirt racers to start with, as for Swindell he didn't do all that bad in the truck series. As Jimmy said, most Cup and Nationwide racers never set foot in an asphalt late model, it used to be you had to earn your way into the big leagues, now they'll stick any 16 year old in a car.

One point I will make is tunamans comment about digging stuff up that happened 25 years ago, you might want to go back and do a little research on yourself and see how many post you waxed nostalgic in. The bottom line is Nascar has become a joke to those of us that know what real racing is all about, your average fan has no idea as to what it was like to come up thru the ranks to make it in the big time, have some kind of personality without nascar telling you how to act and what to say, this age of political correctness is bullshit and you all know it. I refuse to sit and watch a 43 car iroc race any longer, cars with no personality at all other than paint jobs, drivers that whine, piss and moan when someone touches their car. How many active drivers ever even drove a damn race car without power steering?
Even Jimmy spencer is nothing less than a nascar sellout, along with his buddy Darrell, the two guys that know what it was really like and don't even have the balls to act like it. nuff said!

Does this look like I "asked you to keep it off of the forums". Nope.

What I said was, "I did tell Tuna (via PM, to keep it off of the boards)...". That's not *asking you to keep it off of the boards*. It's saying that I took it to PM in order to keep it off of the boards.

Even in the PM I sent you, *I* said I was gonna keep it off the boards, until *someone else* (not me) brought your name back into the conversation.

I'm not getting angry about it; in fact, it's quite entertaining But there's no need to get all "cussy" (is that even a word?) about the situation. Can't you have a decent, civil argument with someone?

How long was it before you brought me up on here?
                          Let's see:

Well bully bully! And how many wins does Kyle Bushs replacement have?? My question was, "who has more wins than Kyle"? No one asked who will win the championship! READ Rick.
So, looks to me like you were on this "conversation" before I was, asking questions, that I, again, merely answered. Never called you names (at least in this one...LOL)

So, now who's twisting words around?

You Mr. Professor are a liar.
Not sure what I lied about here...if you're talking about lying about keeping *our* conversation off the boards...I *did* - until *someone else* - not me - brought your name up and I merely replied that I had already told you that Kinser didn't drive for Bud Moore (again, via PM).

                          Sheesh...like I said...this is becoming entertainment

Bobby, sorry to have "stunk up your thread", but with some people, I guess they just feel like they have to have the last word - and *win* a conversation.

So, to answer Bobby's question for Bristol in a couple of weeks...I gotta stick with my boy, Tony, and ol' Reutimann.

Hey Carol, from what I read (and saw the video replay on YouTube), when Tony made that four-tire stop under green, the air gun jammed up when they put on the left rear. Sometimes, there's things you just can't make up for (pit equipment failure).

                              Hard to make it up!

Jimmy your dead right. The cars were peeling of into turn 3 and 4th at 200 plus mph most of the day. That means for every second lost in the pits they had to make up a football field. Did you catch the 3 laps average they showed. I think Kyle was two seconds faster than the rest (I think). Thats a lot for the even the best driver to make up. One of the reason I think NASCAR back on track is the TV coverage. The little things to get the FANS more information on the Races. GO NASCAR GOoooo.....

You live your life trying to impress everyone with your perfection, intelligence and knowledge. I hope every other word here is spelled wrong, just to make your day. Lets be very honest amd stop the bullshit o'k? I do not like you, thats my right, and you don't like me, and thats your right, and I personally do not care who likes it or not, and thats my right also. So go ahead bash me again, I know you can't live without getting the last word, go for it, I'll just laugh. Farewell Mr. Professor!! Oh, i forgot to say "Just busting your chops"
