I see the e-mail message was sent from a retired Coca Cola exec , or so it claims . So just to see if the exec's ideas really work , why don't we all start with Coca Cola instead of the gasoline manufacturers . After all , Coke is water , huge amounts of sugar , and some food coloring ( along with the famous secret ingrediant ) . Should a concoction like that be worth the money they charge for it . I remember when Cokes were a dime , and they were probably overpriced then .
Lets try the idea out on Coke first and see if it forces them to drop the price back to where it was twenty years ago .
As for targeting big oil , keep in mind that many unbranded stations also get their gas from the big manufacturers , so boycotting the major branded stations wouldn't do as much damage as you might think . And most people don't buy gas from the major branded stations anyway .Comment

It amazes me how people will pay 5.00 for a coffee 3.50 for a 12 pack of soda 10.00 12 pack of beer 3000 homeowners insurance if you can get it and what are cigarettes now. Everything is expensive and a racket why pick on Exxon Mobil. We are and extremely overweight and unhealty society. Lets all walk one day.Comment

We all have the option to not by gas or at the very least get an economy car and only drive when necessary. Or not even own a car I know pleanty of people who don't have a car. But we all want v8's hummers lifted 4 wheel drives. 2 cars for parents the kids have cars but nobody wants to get the oil because of the environment or whatever reason. Most Americans could go cheap as you say but we are not willing to it.Comment

Has anyone ever stopped to think what we pay for a gallon of water? We buy a 16 oz bottle at any event for 2.50 and say thats not bad you have to multiply that by 8 for a gallon gas seems pretty cheap when you think of it that way. I'm not siding with the gas companies just saying. I remember when they used to have gas wars to see who could sell it the cheapest I remember 19 cents a gallon.Comment

What do you need a trailer for just ride the horses or are they really a luxury?? But I agree gas prices are BULLSHIT just like most overpriced stuff nowdays. People that make money say charge whaterver the traffic will bear. That is an old saying but more true today than ever. If we did not bear it they couldn't charge it. But you and me don't want to give up anything to break them.Comment

Yeah, another one of those deals that sounds good on paper. I believe we are well on the way to becoming a 3 Ed world country. We could live like they do in Korea, or China, ride bicycles and ride in little carts pulled by people. my wife just went to work, 5 A. M., so guess I should take her, 20 miles and go back after her in middle of afternoon instead of servicing my customers? How would that save? At least I buy as close to American made vehicles as possible. As far as cars for all the kids, I agree. I was not allowed a car until I graduated from high school, they don't need one. Yes Mr McKinley, I graduated from high school, I just don't give a chit if it's spelled right. I know no cars are completely made in America but it cracks me up people but these Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Mitsubishi. Same email story different prices reflecting current market, which is actually not too far off. Use some common sense people, this stuff doesn't make itself up and if it were true we would all hear about it.
I won't say it won't work, look at what a coordinated, internet based movement was able to accomplish in Egypt. But I agree, MOST Americans won't drive across the street to save money on gas, never mind boycott an entire chain. In Orlando, people are dumb enough to pay $5.00/gall at 2 stations nearest the airport. It's like they don't even look at the price, just fill the tank. Not 1/2 mile away is a station (Mobil, actually) that is selling at normal prices.
Blaming Obama isn't an answer, it was under Bush's watchful eye that gas rose to over $4/ gall in July 08, after spiking over $3 in 2007. It will take an effort on both sides, but no doubt as the economy started down in mid 08, the single biggest reason for the decrease in prices was a decrease in demand, both nationally and globally. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO LOWER PRICES. Drill all you want, IT WILL RUN OUT!Comment

There is a huge difference. Bush ended the problem in 2008 by announcing expanded drilling. The price rapidly collapsed as a result. obama makes it worse by continuing to restrict drilling and exploration.Comment
