  • About Kyle Busch!

hope you are reading this Kyle. or even better yet, i hope your promoter is reading it. i have met hundreds and hundreds of drivers from all over and i have yet to meet another like you. this is the second time in two years and neither time was a pleasant occasion!
i did not talk to one single person who liked you. yes, you were the most talked about driver at USA but the talk was not good. you treated some very special people really bad. you are a spoiled brat and you have no manners. its a darned shame you have so much money and fame. you do not deserve it. Granted, you can drive a race car better than most but being a greatful and friendly celebrity is almost as important and you fail miserably.. ! you were cruel to little children, a photographer and worse of all to our beloved Chaplain Bill who is loved by every driver i know. just wanted you to know we really dont like you Kyle. straighten up like your brother did.
now on the opposite side... David Stremme... you are what this sport is all about. you are friendly, kind, and you greet everyone with a handsome smile. thank you so much for being so nice to bobby! i wish you the best of everything! was a huge pleasure meeting you!
photos are last nights winner JEFF CHOQUETTE & Bobby, David Stremme and Bobby and Kyle Busch....

    Dale Jr. Too

We had the same experience with Jr. 2 years ago at Daytona. He was a real 'SNOT' to people except when the news media was around.
Don't recall his dad being that way.
    -------JIM-----

P.S. good pictures of Bobbie and his book he carries everywhere. Hope there were more fans in the stands at race time.

One of the facinating things about this sport is the WIDE variety of personalities that are involved in it. Our racing world is full of wild, strange and colorful characters, although I believe there are far fewer like this that really stand out. At all levels of the sport, I find that racing is getting a little too mainstream and professional.

When I was a kid, I used to go see the professional wrestlers in action on Miami Beach. Yes, I knew at a young age it was just entertainment, but to this day I have NEVER seen such energy and excitement in a crowd: at ANY event! Those fans loved their heros, but the REALLY loved to HATE the bad guys! Those villians would play the fans like a violin until everyone was standing on their seats and screaming! Week after week, year after year they pack in the fans, even though the "show" is total junk and I refuse to watch it.

So here is my point, I don't care if Kyle Busch, or any other driver, acts like a total snot. I have no doubt that what you say is true: he was rude, arrogant, whatever. Carol, present this behavior as a life lesson for your grandson. Make sure he knows that is not how to behave, to avoid Kyle in the future, etc, and to BOO LIKE CRAZY every time the speedway announcer mentions Kyle Bush!

Besides, some people are very different away from the track and the pressure to perform in a race. I've seen that for years. I know a bunch of guys who are total jerks at the track because they are so wound up, but then they are fine away from the track. Has anyone else seen this?

Some people will misunderstand this post: I could make a list of their names ahead of time, but there is my point. I think racing is better and more colorful if everyone DOES NOT act like some NASCAR wanna be. Sometimes we are crabby, rude or impolite because that is our heritage as racers. Maybe it is our intensity that makes us behave that way, maybe we have been up for 48 hours working, or maybe we a spoiled brat like Kyle Bush. Whatever the reason, the SHOW is better if the fans have someone to hate. Ask any wrestling fan!

Carol... I have heard the exact same words to describe your favorite, Tony Stewart. These guys that run the short-tracks ontheir off weeks, do it because they are racers, not as just another chance to pose for pictures and sign autographs. Tony has been known to tell people "There are plenty of public appearances where I sign autographs, but tonight I'm just another racer. Please see me at one of those functions, and I'll be glad to do it".

Is that being rude or snotty? I think it's more a matter of the right time and place for fan interaction, and maybe this was NOT one of those times. People need to respect these drivers personal time. Some of them just love the chance to get someone TV time, and the VIP treatment.... others would like to just be left alone to perform the best they can as RACERS.

Your picture of Kyle says a thousand words... he's WORKING on his car. He's not kicking back in the shade with a lemonade while other crew members are doing all the work. Speed51 also has a picture of him working on David Stremme's car. Seems to me that he had more important business at hand, than to worry about his popularity among fans. Let the guy be a racer, not just a celebrity.

Why is it always the driver that is considered rude and inconsiderate? Sometimes, it's the FANS that are. If they accomodated every fans wish, where would they ever find the time to be a race driver?

I'm by no means a Kyle Busch fan, but I've got to agree here, that top picture says, "i'm working lady." And he is.

That's what autograph sessions are for.

Kyle was always polite and well-mannered when I was around him - in direct contrast to Tony Stewart, who always seemed to have a "Worship Me Pigs!" attitude. Oh he could be nice and friendly, turn on the charm of course, but most of the time it was "I'm Tony - it's all about me."

I see that in a lot of drivers.

                    Busch

I watched Kyle Busch of and on all day yesterday and he worked on his car
all afternoon. Jim and I were impressed with the fact that he worked on his own car as some one above said he could, as others do, sit in his hauler and let some one else fix his ride. I didn't try to talk to him but others I know did and he seemed ok. He is a tatented driver, but thats no excuse for that kind of behavior. But I guess when you think about it those guys live in a fish bowl. I don't imagine he can go any where with out a fan wanting something. Thats gota get old fast. Bob..........

He comes off as a jerk to a lot of people (me included), but I have to say if you catch a driver in the pits, he isn't obligated to stop what he is doing and smile for pictures. Yea, he might be doing stuff others could do, but maybe he just doesn't enjoy interacting - a lot of those guys have to fake it for the cameras etc. throughout the year and might just want to do what they love - racing and skip what they don't - the people. Don't forget, this is his vacation. Jeez, am I making excuses for this chump?

At the snowball this year, i was hanging out near Wayne Andersons car just watching them thrash on it. They were all through and I asked Wayne something about the last run and whether the smoke i saw was just a tire rub. He looked at me like I had three heads - mumbled something and walked away. The funny part was i am not a big fan of his, but that interaction didn't bug me at all cuz i figured i was in "his space" while he was working.

I was near him today just before he got strapped into his car he was checking the car over when a lady came up to him and asked for a picture. Kyle stopped and granted her wish but you could tell by his expression that he was in race mode and wanted to keep on working on his car. To me let the guy work when it comes to autograph session then you can get your pictures taken. Sorry for the lousy quality it is from my cell phone.

Also, I'm not a big fan of the Busch's. But I also agree with the others that say you need to leave the guys alone when they're working on their cars. Even if they're not apparently doing anything, it's important for some to mentally focus on the racing aspect of the sport and not the fans. There is a time and a place to interact with anyone. You don't bother anyone while they're working. Some may pretend that it doesn't bother them but it does. You don't ask how it's going after a wreck or a DNF or a poor finish. Again, some will be polite but don't be surprised if they're not. I use to hate it when people would approach us after we had a bad run. There are always people that do though, and you (as a driver) just need to deal with it the best you can. As a spectator I've had very popular drivers really turn me off. I've also had a well known popular driver offer me a beer after he had a bad day. And he didn't know me and I wasn't talking to him. Actually happened to be passing by and helped some of his crew load the car after it had been wrecked. I've also seen the same driver act like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum after having problems. Different time, place, and circumstances. You also must be aware that there may be other things going on in their life that may be affecting them, causing them to act in a manner that isn't consistent with their normal behavior. This should sound familiar to the original poster.

BTW, I still think both the Busch's are jerks. The actions of Kyle and Steven Wallace are good arguments for raising the driving age to 21 in the Cup series.

Geeeezzz Carol, your posts really leave me confused. Just a different day and different circumstance, I guess.

i only saw a little bit of Kyle up close. once he was running a wrench and the other time a video crew tried to corner him for an interview. he said he'd answer "short track questions only".

                            [shrugs]

                            i don't have a problem with that.

Hey Carol, maybe he just doesn't like YOU! Maybe he remembered YOU from 2 years ago...Ha Ha!

He is not there to please YOU or anyone else, except by his RACING...Leave the guy alone!

To start a thread to trash someone, just because he didn't please you is very uncool....YOU sound like a vicious, vindictive female...Why don't YOU show some love?
