Yeah, like Stimus is a good example! Normally tracks don't give away new cars, diamond rings, cruises, ect. plus have what, two of his own cars that I know for a fact weren't legal, but that's another thread all together. Generally when you do all the things Stimus did to make him look like a rock star.....ahem........ you won't last long. Your move Don.

And everyone liked you...........for awhile, lol, just kidding,The owner after Tom was an idiot, The people that own Orlando and New Symrna( HARTS) have had ownership forever not including the money they make from leasing the dragstrip so I'm sure they're making bank. The hills made a killing off Sunshine and then sold it for another killing. BTW Don, whatever happened to St. Augustine?

the owner after tom was Mesick I know I spelled it wrong.
He was a owner of a few car auctions. lost big money before tom was Margie nanny. She got it from the original owners Gean thorp.
. Try to get any of them to a track now. they all lost money.
Hills didn’t make any money at the track or it would still be there.
they inherited the speedway from family. they made out on the sale.
Dan Jones was there for years when Musgrave was alive and they made good money. Dan went from there to Inverness and did real good there.
the only one that I know of that made good money in this business was Dan. Its a hobby for the track owner to. he is trying to survive also and people like u don’t help talking about things u know nothing about.
St Augustine did ok whale I was there. liked it. Got fired for the first time. the owner wanted more. he ran it himself one year. gave it back to RJ.
Come on every one lets rember owners now.
            Make a list.

could tell u more but u wouldn’t get it

I know a helluva lot more than you might think Don. Lets tackle this one first. You say Bonnie & Frank Hill didn't make money? really? I guess you never had the opportunity to see the house they lived in muchless the inside. How about all the new cars? The $30,000 truck Frank had built just for oval drags? It's an endless list with them.

Next we have Mesick (sp) he was his own worst enemy, couldn't run a race track if he had directions from Bill France Sr. He damn near destroyed Desoto!!

Next, I asked about St Augustine because of the closing of it Don, like what is it now? Why did it ever close? I know you got fired but I wasn't going to fire that shot. You left out the Hart's as well. I also know about Dan, more people should have followed his lead.
What does people like me mean? I'm Not bad mouthing any race track or promotion except maybe nascrap, I've always supported local short track racing, I have programs from almost every race track on the east coast dirt and asphalt so I'm sure what you mean by people like me. Go back and read my second post in this thread.

u remember only what u want. one time the truth will set u free. Frank had all those things before bonnys grandfather gave her the track. The first thing they did was to fire Dan Frank raced the jeep long before getting the track. next st augstine was doing great when I left . FASCAR When I left it in the hands of Terry Roberts the car count at NSS and OSW was good
in my first post I was trying to tell u that they don’t make money. the name I was looking for was Dan Jones. He did. Did I answer all of them?

Supporting a track is not collecting programs it being part of them. I haven’t missed a year since 1977 and went to my first race when I was 13 in the 60s. I though like u till 81 and I got my own track. Hope u never learn that lesson. U can hate me the most iv been here almost the longest. Robert Hart got me beat)
I don’t have anything agents u yet. I don’t even know who u are. I put my full name on my post look on top.

I am proud of what I have done in racing . That doesn’t mean I was right or Wong but I committed my life to it and so many have come and gone. (I did drive a racecar did u drive a track)
                To all my friends thanks

ABYSS64 - if you knew as much about Sunshine Speedway as you think you do, you wouldn't sound so jealous of the Hills. A little history of Sunshine Speedway. Built on land that Mr. Musgrave already owned, a dairy farm. He was not a stock car racing fan as much as a smart business man. At a Golden Gate race event he notice that a very large about of cars in the parking lot were from Pinellas County, so Sunshine Speedway was built. Not because of the love of racing but as a business, to make money. Next- the Hills never owned Sunshine Speedway. Mrs. Musgrave owned it until it was sold. A lot of taxes were paid when she died and then there was as many as 20 sets of hands getting what is left, right a lot of money left over for the Hills. What does the house that they lived in prove. Frank Hill worked for the fire department before and while the Hills ran the speedway. Bonnie Hill had a full time job before taking over the speedway, they would have had that house anyway. You are out of your mind if you think Frank Hill spent $30,000. on a oval drag truck. The new cars that you are talking about were pace cars and trucks that were worked out with dealerships. Nothing uncommon for tracks to do. However, if you are talking about personal trucks, hell, race car driver that raced at Sunshine Speedway droved the same type or bigger.
Don - your memory isn't that great, no grandfather gave bonny the track. I don't remember Frank driving the jeep, however, Kenny Musgrave, bonny's brother did. (Bonnie is the correct spelling)

Everyone that thinks that track owners are ripoff artist then let's bring in a nother group of racing people. What about the owners of businesses that make or sell racing products, the tires and equipment that is needed to put on your racecar. You don't think that they have nice homes, drive nice trucks or cars, rvs. What about people that own or owned race car shops. Jimmy Cope, Dave Pletcher, who I like and always felt he was fair with the cost when he built my racecar. Was Jimmy and Dave not allowed to make a profit on what they sold, a product or service to the race car driver. When Dave sold his business was he required to give it away. ABY you don't sound to jealous of these people like you do the Hills.

Sunshine Speedway is gone - over.

                    mr. nerone--

way back when, i think in the mid-80's, your team had Orlando Speedworld rocking, big time. and then the subsequent shift in ownership, your team opened up a long-shuttered Raceway in Lakeland, utilizing the 1/4 miler, and revamped and refurbished it, brought back to life a needed Raceway for Friday night racing action in that area; and that place was rocking, too. you also had visions of revamping the old 5/8 miler, but the hooters thing came along, and well, the rest is history.

Lmao at this one, if you only knew who you were talking to Darren. Me, jealous of the Hills?? Please!!! The jobs they had didn't pay for that big ass house dude and i can assure you they had plenty left over from 2 mil. The vehicles I'm referring to are not the track pace cars either for god sake, are you high? As for the S10 he built for oval drags i know for a fact what was invested.
As for Dave,Jimmy, ect why would i have any problems with them? I padded their pocket probably more than most. My problem is not with anyone making a profit, you obviously have made this up in your own tiny mind, besides, my conversation is with Don, not you, so just............piss off.

Frank raced the Camaro before the truck. You mis-understood what I was trying to point out about the track programs. I've been involved with many, including two different racing schools, so your assumption that you've latched onto some un-informed race fan think again, and as for hating you it would seem your memory is fading, again read my second post. Yes, you've been around a long time, but, you've also been at many different places and had your hands many different things, some failed, some didn't. My life has been and still is committed to racing, I've been thru your deals before as a crew member and as a driver. My beef is you guys make it sound like your living in a damn shanty and driving an opel cadet when that simply isn't so. Unlike Darren here thinks, I have no jealousy, if you made money, good for ya Don, I'm sure I donated to your bank roll plenty of times, I don't have a problem with that. What I have a problem with are track owners and promoters that bust our balls at the gate and the tire shed, paying just enough money to win to maybe pay our tire bill, and then act like they have to shop at the salvation army.

ABYSS64 - 1st, Don open it up to anyone when he made the comment, "come on everyone lets remember owners, make a list."
2nd, this is a forum, anyone can jump in anytime they feel like it. If you want to keep it private use e-mail. It still seems that you have a fixation on what the Hills have. Any vehicles they have had, you or anyone could have afforded. If you know for a fact how much Frank Hill invested for the s10 and what the inside of their house looked like, at one time you must have had a personal friendship that went sour. You also wrote 2 mil, is that a misquote or what does that number refer to. Since, Dan Jones name has been mention. He wasn't fired, he had a lease with Mrs. Musgrave after Mr. Musgrave past away and quit paying. Don't pay you lose. Your right I have no idea who you are, same with you. You don't know who I am neither, however I am close to the truth in more ways then one.

You are right about Dan Jones. he was paying rent. I dont think the facts of that should be on here. he didnt want to leave. the Hills didnt want him to stay. He hade the lease on Inverness . You also do know the facts .Carmela was a dear friend of mine.( thanks for the facts).

                            Now back to the start
Lets make a list of who made money at short a short track in florida?
There are a few of them . 2 that i can think of.
it would be more fun to list all the ones that didnt. Tracks and traveling shows.
