Own up to what? To the fact that enduros were successful 20 years ago where ever they were tried? To the fact that the only way to make one work now is to use design them for modern inexpensive cars? These are the points I made from the start.

Before you hurt yourself patting yourself on the back, think back on how sick enduros have been, including many that you put on: no rules, no cars and cut payout. The enduro well is poisoned in Florida and has to be restored. If you have come to your senses and your organization can be part of the solution, then great. I love watching them and have competed in dozens. Good luck with it.

        1985 enduros ?

Long before I ever started racing cars I attended a few Enduros that some friends of mine participated in. This first one was at the Fairgrounds in Tampa. It must have been in 1985 by Don's post. There were over 100 cars and they were lined up three wide from the start finish line to the center of the backstretch. They threw the green and the leaders caught the back of the pack BEFORE they were able to move .( Imagine going a lap down BEFORE you take the green!!) My friend used a 6cyl AMC Gremlin and did pretty good until a tractor tire jumped out in front of him.
The second Enduro I went to was at East Bay. Same thing, over 100 cars. I saw one car that was sitting in the line up in turn 3 when the green flag came out. His car didn't start,so he had to sit there (NO CAUTIONS in those days). When the race ended he was sitting in turn 1 . Never having fired the car up, just getting hit every once in a while and coasting around.
Would love to see a 100+ show again.

The first Enduro I witnessed was at Hialeah, probably 1976-77... The idea was to bring your car off the street or out of the parking lot and run... similar to what is called fan participation today... they expected maybe 10-15 idiots to give it a try but ended up with 66 cars! they split them into two 100 lap races... remember, these were real street cars... I can't remember who won the first one but the guy who won the second one was driving a really nice, souped-up but street legal 1965 Dodge Coronet... It was a wild show that they really weren't prepared for since some of the people actually went out to the parking lot and got in their car and raced with a few already having just a bit too much alcohol in their system...

            BONE MAN SAID

Why don't you run enduros at Car Warz?

Don, when you left there wasn't even a rule book. When did you ever have 65 cars at Orlando?
            __________________
I answered that with fact not a bash but with the truth. No patting.

Bone man was your statement true or false?
see if u can do it.

Why don't you run enduros at Car Warz? Don, this is a question. The little "?" at the end means it is a question, not a statement.

When did you ever have 65 cars at Orlando? This is also a question.

when you left there wasn't even a rule book This statement is true. There was no rule book for Crash A Rama, nor for the enduros that you had on the same show. Remember that you used to hand out penalty laps for cars that were race prepared. That way the fast cars that lapped the field 5 times would actually start several laps behind so no one really knew what was going on. I understand why you did it; you didn't want to send racecars home. But those were bad days for enduros. Maybe you have seen the light!

see if u can spel it

You lrt me down rex. No i cant spell.
Thought u would just own up like a man.
1 when i left there was a rule book you just didnt like it.
2 yes i rembre handing penalty laps for the cars that didnt meet the printed rules (so there must have been some).
3 enery one new what was going on (may be not u)
4 Yes the rule was so every one could race.
5 Those were not bad days and the last endro in NY had 88 cars with the same rules so i have not seen the light.

the last MOE SHOW had13 your way

dont try to make me look bad without the truth

when i left there was a rule book you just didnt like it. The claim was "the rules are on the website", but they never appeared. I suggest we just disagree on this since we will reach no common ground.

last endro in NY had 88 cars Who cares about New York? From the start of this thread, I have discussed the bad shape of enduros in Florida over the last 10 years or so.

the last MOE SHOW had13 That sounds right. The cars in Moe's race were painted junk. Low dollar, high contact junk that was fun to drive. Do you know why I am encouraged by it? Because they broke up the old idea that enduros have to be based around full sized V8s, and they are rebuilding from scratch based on inexpensive cars that are readily available in Florida, in 2010.

I bet we actually agree on one thing: enduro racing is a GREAT way for new racers to enter our sport. If it is inexpensive, easy and fair, we can get some new racers hooked on driving short track stock cars.

1 Lets see i stated that we run front wheel drive 4ci 6ci
2 in fl? the prob. is every ware some of this how we did it up north dont work need to go back and look its not so good there either.
it has nothing to do with rules its how u use them.
if i have 100 cars and you have 13 and im still wrong rex you are taking it personal and thats y i was disipointed in u. i though u to be better than that.
