This isn't a bitch and moan session and not directed and anyone person in particular but I have a few questions FASCAR. Being that the current way of doing things doesn't seem to be working why don't you............

    1. Alternate the classes at the OSW and NSS tracks and combine points?
    2. Race in the winter at OSW and take the summer off?
    3. Put a team of racers and volunteers together to create a welcome wagon to help get new race teams to the tracks? Getting started was harder then anything if you didn't know anyone.
    4. Give strictly stock (drivers ONLY) free admission?
    5. Promote race car sponsors better?
    6. Maybe combine classes for better racing?
    7. Do something to make it more of a festival type atmosphere for the fans? There are still tracks around that I can feel the energy upon arrival. Not OSW.
    8. Promote your special races for the lower classes? Being that MOST racers cannot afford anything above a sportsman or mini stock I think that I would try to cater to those kind of people a little more.
    9. Increase or decrease the purse depending on the car count for that class?

Once again, I am not bashing or pointing fingers but I believe these are all fair questions directed at FASCAR.

Ed... I shouldn't even be entertaining this post because I know I am just asking for trouble... But I can address numbers 5 and 9...

#5 - (This has been a pet-peeve of mine for 4 Years) Have you ever tried getting information from a Driver? From doing the Programs for 4 years now I can tell that in most cases it is like pulling teeth! I have tried talking to drivers myself (when I can) and this seems to be the only effective way... If they do not want to promote their own Sponsors there is only so much I can do for them... I have put forms in Pit Offices for them to fill out and for two years now I have had links on both websites for drivers to fill out with their information... this year (for both tracks) I have received a total of 11 (last year I received quite a few more than that)... Unfortunately I do not always have time to talk to drivers prior to the races and that is nobody's fault but my own, however, when I can I do... I would love to have too much information on a Friday/Saturday night than not enough... Don't get me wrong, I can not announce 15 sponsors for every driver but I do announce as many of them as I have information for as often as I can... And, btw, pretty much everyone has either my email address, phone number or at the very least the tracks phone number to pass along information... I know if it were me and my sponsor I would be beating down everyone's door until they knew my sponsor by heart!

Ok, 23NY, which sponsor of a race car have you used this week and did you tell them you were using them because of them sponsoring a car or the track? How many friends are you bringing with you tomorrow night for the first time to introduce them to Speedworld?

My point is it takes everyone from the track to the drivers and teams, to the loyal fans to keep a speedway going these days. Just my two cents.

And Edm... Are you saying mini's considered the lower class? I think Boney is going to differ with that!! J/K

Bitch and moan if you want, or try encouragement and support, the result will be the same. The status quo will be maintained and nothing will be tried. I'm saving the effort of any more typing on this topic. Believe me, it has been proven to have been a waste of time.

I have an idea about why no one is pushing the panic button during these terrible times. If I'm correct, it may even be an ok approach, but the problem is that this situation has been years in the making.

Regarding my buddy racnphoto68, I firmly believe that (modified) mini stocks provide a lot of bang for the buck, and I am not sure why they are not attracting many new racers around here. I'm staying in them.

Hey Mark, thanks for the reply. Regards to number 5, I have had the same sponsor for the last two years and I have never seen these forms or even knew about them.

In regards to number 9, good answer, I have checked the website in the past and never noticed that before. Thanks for pointing that out.

23ny, I am not exactly sure what you are saying. Last time I was at OSW all things were not good. Being OSW is my favorite track as a racer and a FAN I would love to see more cars, better racing and more fans. If nobody says anything at all do you really think it will get better? "Status quo" isn't cutting it.

Once again, Edm and others prove that there are no shortage of good ideas out there, and some don't cost much money.

As for Boneman's theory, it's easy: He and Robert Hart have a bet to see which happens first -- OSW closes, or Boneman wins the ministock championship. Meaning it could drag on for decades.

Hey! I'm actually in second this year! Aint gonna win, but damn.

We can fight among ourselves, but the track closing needs to be a topic that is off limits.

Straightup - Unknown about the 100 lapper. It was lots of fun last year....

Boy, I gotta agree with Mark on the sponsor deal... At Auburndale a few months back, I created a one-page form for the drivers to fill out... When it was completed, I then created their own page on the Auburndale web site, plus it gave me plenty of info about those drivers who actually turned them in which was about 35-40 percent... Of the ones I got back, probably half had nothing more than their name, hometown and maybe a couple of other lines filled out... Some, thankfully, have gone out of their way to provide lots of information that I can pass along to the fans, including their SPONSORS...
Guys like Jeff Waterman, Dave Dunkin and most of the Legend/Bandolero teams go out of their way to keep me up to date while others look like they are trying to hide from their parole officer... I spend around two hours in the pits each week, so no one has an excuse... I also quit going by what is painted on the car since many of those sponsors haven't given the team anything since the car was first painted... I got one form back and the driver had three sponsors... There are three also painted on his car, but all different than the ones he wrote down!!

Doing some announcing at a dirt track up here now....they just opened the track up...I told them DO NOT PAY unless they fill out the form LOL

I have the information the drivers want out there for ALL of the cars!

It is amazing how much info you can get when you tell them they have to fill it out or no pay...and by forms I mean all of the forms not just sponsors.

And goodness gracious NO you can not go by what is written on the cars!!!! Not even the name of the driver LOL

But YES, unless you FORCE the issue it is like Mark said "PULLING TEETH"!
