what the heck is wrong with you guys??? THIS IS AMERICA !!! people can say what they want and vote for their choice. i dont agree with alot of whats been said on this thread but i would not think of calling anyone "stupid". have a debate and disagree but for crying out loud... dont make it so you can only debate with yourself! (hey boney..thats DEbate!) rofl
personally i cant argue because i cant stand either candidate! they are both telling us what they think we want to hear... just like "NO MORE TAXES"! so chill out ..if we all felt the same life would suck... boring....

      Aye....there's the rub......

This is the problem with political discussions. And religious debates.....abortion rights arguments.....equal rights opinions......etc., etc....

People just can't seem to get their point across or accept that what they believe may not be the holy gospel without resorting to immature, schoolyard tactics. Why reply with a fact-based, well thought out post that would back up a position or belief when you can just blindly call someone stupid or an idiot? Reminds me of an old ad campaign where they dressed up babies like the candidates and let them throw baby food at each other until one of them cried.

      Grow up.
It is possible to feel strongly and be passionate about your personal political leanings without acting like teenaged girls. I can't remember any debate ever being won by one side standing up, shuffling their documents, clearing their throat and firmly stating:

"I'm right and my opponent is a poo-poo head. Thank you."

Aww crap.....just checked before I posted and saw that CW beat me to the wrist slap. There ya go Carol, something else we can agree on. Happy now?

Like I said, sometimes people get the best of me. When this election started I had no clue who I was going to vote for. I watched Obamas speech during the 2004 democratic national convention and I will admit that I was impressed. This year I have spent countless hours researching both Obsama and McCain. Ocraps voting record and political views are horrible. The friends and company that he keeps are enough not to vote for him. Granted McCain is not the best either but with him as our president I will feel safe that he will protect our country and our rights as Americans.
Now it may be childish to call someone stupid but you have to admit that someone coming on this board and announcing that they are going to vote for so and so because of my opinion instead of doing their own research and seeing exactly what they are voting for is just plain retarded.

Slap my wrist all you want but thats how I feel and I cant sugar coat it any better then that.

one of the problems with Americans...

sad but true, alot of Americans NEVER listen to the debates or read about the candidates. they vote by emotions, looks, predjudice, and word of mouth. that is why we do not always have the best interest of America in our choices at the polls.
that is why some of these posts have been really good. they explain some of our feelings and it is your right. it doesnt mean you are right or wrong. do you believe alot of people wont vote for Barack because of his name??? or his color??? thats rediculous. its like not voting for McCain because he has a lump on his face.... those are not the things that make for a good president.
His mother named him! He was born black..he did not choose to be black. i am not saying he is the best choice. all im saying is that those are NOT reasons to choose.
this country is in need of a strong moral intelligent president. that is what we need to look for!

OJ... i never doubted your intelligence or morals... now i can faint in peace!

            Opinions and bungholes......

It's an old saying. And yes everybody except coma patients and amoebas have at least one of each.

It's a great thing that you have researched the candidates and made your choices and formed your opinions about what you want to do with your vote.

The key word there being: YOURS

And unless you are going to lay claim to omnipotence and the ability to predict the future of American politics, there will always be a place at the opposite end of the table for the "other" point of view. Or "other points of view" for that matter. Ever heard that there may be more than one way to skin a cat? More than one trail through the woods? Like Mix Wiz sez....everyone has the right to be as stupid or smart as they wanna be.

As far as someone coming on the board and saying you've enlightened them to the point of political clarification, well.....being a registered smartass myself, I have a knack for picking up on sarcasm and wit. Read it again, Ed.

Sugar coated? More like Honey Smacks, I'd say.

Honestly, I really dont think race is that big of an issue for the whites as it is for the blacks. Voter turnouts for the blacks will be larger then ever.

Maybe!!! but from his other posts that I have read, I really dont think so, but you never know, maybe.

I really do look at both sides and try to understand both, I am not narrow minded.

                  edm

there are very many posts on RRUSA that are extremely predjudiced in content. it isnt just blacks. and who can blame them for getting excited and wanting to vote... Obama is their first opportunity to put a black man in the white house. but to keep one OUT because he is black isnt right.
that isnt a good enough reason. dont get me wrong. i AM worried that blacks will vote for him simply because he is black. i hope they are paying attention to the issues.i hope and pray Obama can deal with racial problems in a fair way if he should win the election..actually i have heard alot of people say they are voting for MCcain because he was a soldier!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? is that what makes a president? there are millions of people who have fought and died for us... that doesnt make them presidential material. Castro is a military man!
i dont care what planet the president was born on. all i care about is what he believes in and what he will do to bring self respect back to this country.
i do care that there may be serious problems for white people. i dont want to have to fight for MY rights because i am white. but these are fears that have been instilled in us for hundreds of years. maybe its time to get rid of the racial fears and trust in the person. (i am not endorsing Obama...just the concept)... not all blacks are uneducated poor criminals. there are genius blacks, blacks that are embarrassed by the black crime rate, blacks that are not at all predjudiced and want to make a difference. dont get me wrong... i do not like all blacks, i worry that our prisons are probably 90% blacks, i worry that black neighborhoods are not even safe for blacks. MAYBE Obama can change that...if not, "WE THE PEOPLE" have an ace in the hole... if he does not represent us the way we want him to ...we can impeach him! but to do that we cant get on message boards or telephones and b6#@h... we would have to band together and do something. what a concept huh?

i am a Christian. i cannot call myself that and still be predjudice... its an oxy moron... predjudice/Christian... i am not however, always a perfect Christian... i have some feelings of predjudice because of fear... but i try..

well im going racing. hope you all have a wonderful weekend..please dont be mad at me. its just my opinion and it doesnt make it wrong or right. i listen to you so.... ;-)

                      Back to gun control

In the news this morning there was an account of a teacher that lived alone that shot and killed and intruder in her house last night. Kudos to her for having the gun and defending her self the way that it should be! I am thankful that she had the gun and was able to use it! It is not all that far fetched to think that we could have them all confiscated!

The anti-gunners like to say that we would all be safe in an unarmed society. Well this intruder was un-armed and had the lady not been armed I am sure that it would have been a tragic end for her!

The next time you hear an anti-gunner say that society would be safer if we were all unarmed. Ask them if they would be willing to spend the night in a maximum security prison. That should be the safest place in the world because everyone is unarmed!

And for those keeping score at home both people in this story were black not that it has any bearing one way or the other.

I keep hearing about the so-called Bubba vote. That is the small percentage of white voters that want vote for Nobama because he is black. What about the Willie or Leroy vote? I gaurantee that there is a much larger percentage of blacks that will vote for Nobama simply because he is "almost" black!

                        what choices....

the people you mentioned are radicals...you forgot to mention the insane hateful Farrakhan.. he terrifies me!..they are NOT representative of all blacks. as for Oprah... hmmmmmmm i doubt she would ever build a school for poor whites...and maybe she was right for not helping those 4! rofllll we cant base our decision on the presidency because of them... only the 2 that are in contention.... sometimes the very people who promote them cause them the most problems.
there is no doubt that there is a severe divide in the races... but all i was saying is MAYBE Obama can change that. ive heard that his wife hates whites... but i heard it from rumors. not from her mouth. that would worry me if it was true. there is no room for hate in this world. i dont want to be hated because i am white....
IF Obama does win, IFFFFFFFFF...then I pray he will lead us to a stronger and better America... same goes for McCain...

i finally figured out what you're talking about Ed. sorry, i'm slow on the uptake.

Honestly, I really dont think race is that big of an issue for the whites as it is for the blacks.

year after year, election after election, blacks vote around 90% for the party of racial preferences and against the anti-slavery party.

there's a lot of racism in the black vote but i'll be damned if i can figure out the reasoning behind it.

It's irresponsible actions like this that give the anti-gun proponents their ammunition. I can't imagine any responsible individual or organization allowing this. You can't blame the gun. You have to blame the adults that allowed an 8 year old to shoot it.
