Staff Report
My goodness, things have been happening so fast and furious at Short Track America, especially with our Real Racin’ USA show on Tuesday night, keeping up with is has been nearly impossible of late.
November flew by with great shows featuring the management and drivers from Citrus County Speedway joining us live at the Snook River Grill. A classic interview segment with Wayne Anderson, who like the pro he is turned the tables and became the interviewer of his on track nemesis Jeff Scofield. Scofield, hot off his win of the Florida Governor’s Cup, and Anderson provided fans with insights from the world of asphalt Super Late Model racing that only successful veterans could offer.
The next week we had a packed house, proving the critics who said “we couldn’t draw flies”, dead wrong once again. This time it was the truck racers of the Fastrucks and Fastkids who came to play. I believe we interviewed over 14 people that night.
It was wild.
Bill Green and Steve Meyer hooked up to provide daily inside coverage of the Snowball Derby weekend with live updates and interviews Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We have that whole deal archived for you under our Special Events section of the web site.
Last week Clay Rogers, winner of the Snowball Derby and the 2006 Hooters ProCup Champion joined us from his home in Mooresville, NC to talk about the award winning year, the Derby and the future for this short track star. It is high time Clay got a shot up there with his good friend Shane Huffman.
We have suspended our Saturday Night After The Races show until March, when racing again thaws out in the northern states. This year we really wanted to just test the concept and it has turned out to be a very popular format. When it kicks back off we will be sharing information on late Saturday nights with promoters, media, drivers and fans all over the Country, being the only show of its kind out there.
During the Winter we will be doing some live shows from East Bay Raceway Park Winternationals, and having live updates and news shows from the World Series of Asphalt Racing at New Smyrna Speedway. Several other concepts are in the works if we can get the resources together to make them happen.
Real Racin’ USA, which has turned into an incredibly popular Tuesday night event, will go on vacation beginning December 19, and returning again on January 9th.All of our shows are archived for you to listen at your convenience, download them to your computer, your I-Pod, burn them to CD and listen in your car. If there is any suggestions for Bill Green, Rick Anges or Jack Smith or show content, please let us know by sending us an e-mail to feedback@realracinusa.com
