The ASA Late Model Series is taking off in 2007, fast becoming one of the nation’s testing grounds for short track talent looking toward NASCAR. The series is actually three traveling series, North and South Divisions and the ASA Late Model Challenge. With twenty-one ASA Late Model Series races over the next 20 straight weekends beginning next weekend in Toledo, Ohio, the action is certainly going to heat up.
Short Track America unveils its weekly ASA Fast Lane show this week, beginning on Wednesday night at 8 PM. The show was originally going to be on Monday nights but logistics dictate Wednesday being a much better time to produce the show. “We made the commitment last October to get real involved with the ASA Late Model program, we saw it the wave of the future with the crate motors and young talent involved”, Short Track America’s Jack Smith said.
Longtime Motorsports radio personality Terry Wall will co-host the show with Jack Smith, while Short Track America’s Rick Anges, Bill Green, Jason Beckner, John Barker and others will be involved in the show. Terry Wall has hosted many racing talk shows over the last 15 years and is a marketing representative for the KARNAC.com motorsports community web site.
Bill Green, Jack Smith, Rick Anges will be the team that broadcasts the ASA Late Model South race live from New Smyrna Speedway on June 23rd. New Smyrna Speedway also hosts the nine days of World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing in February. In addition the speedway hosts Florida Governors Cup in November and the Clyde Hart Memorial in July, both of which are 200 lap super late model races that attract top short track talent from around the US and Canada.
The ASA “FAST LANE” will focus entirely on the ASA series, it’s drivers, crew members and other personalities involved with the series. The initial show will feature Sean Bass and Wayne Morris.
