Hawkins races Kaiser memorial Race
On Nov 2-3 Jacob Hawkins ran the #28 mini sprint in the Kaiser memorial race at Manzanita speedway, there was a total of 40 cars that would turn out for the two-day show. Friday night Hawkins would start in the 3rd heat race, starting second row inside. The field would take the green flag, with Hawkins turning to the inside where he would take the lead and take the win. Hawkins would be called for jumping the start, where he was docked two positions.
Hawkins would start the main event, in the 12th position. The green flag dropped Hawkins would take his mini sprint to high side where he would pick off 2-3 cars each lap where he settles into the 3rd position. Hawkins would get together with another car on the last lap but would still finish 5th.
On Saturday night Hawkins would not have to go thru the qualifying heats, because the eight from the main event on Friday night would automatically transfer to the main on Saturday. The top eight would have a run off for there starting position in the main event, after the run off they would invert which would find Hawkins on the outside pole.
The main event on Saturday would be a 30 lap main event, when the green flag dropped the field went screaming into turn one Hawkins on the outside and fellars on the inside. Hawkins would slide up out of his grove and lose a few positions, he would settle in the 5th position. With the track condition changing Hawkins would have a car that would become very tight and develop a bad push, even with the driver adjustments that Hawkins could make, he was unable to get the car to free up and perform better.
Hawkins would lose two more positions after shearing off all the teeth on the rear sprocket, on the #28 mini sprint. He would be scored in the 7th position, but would receive 5th due to other drivers that where docked positions due to rough driving and poor sportsmanship.
