  • I would like to think given the circumstances out of respect for the family. Beyond that this story has all the trappings of David and Goliath. Once again I would urge that all race fans refrain from assigning blame and allow the authorities to tell us what happened.

    • Berti and Albee, you bozo's are amazing. Old School and Ground pounder seem like the only 2 that actually get it. As far as Tony, he is probably the baddest guy I've ever seen on the race track (right next to Balough). I'm far from a Stewart hater, but I do believe he messed up sending a message. FYI, I've been on the track with both. One thing that is tough, talking racing with FANS! I also believe Jimmie Johnson will go down as the greatest, I hope your both a Earnhardt FANS!

You refuse to keep an open mind. You've all but convicted Tony and sentenced him to jail. Anyone who presents a different angle from what you believe you ridicule that's obvious by your comment "you bozo's are amazing".

My postings are presented to give people deeper insight that goes beyond the sensationalism of media outlets by revealing points that media outlets refuse to look into and present to the public.

Sensationalism is a type of editorial bias in mass media in which events and topics in news stories and pieces are played up using the angle that guarantees to increase viewership or readership numbers. If they were to put out information like I have in posts I've made the story would be greatly deflated. This would be detrimental to the interests of the mass media. They must condemn Stewart and must downplay the poor judgement of Ward in getting out of his car, walking down to the racing groove with cars whisking by to confront Stewart. They must play to readers emotions at the expense of seeking detail.

Would the media outlets be all over this like they are if it would have been one of the track's little known regulars who struck and killed Ward? I think not. There would be no media hype. There would be no rushes to judgement. An investigation would be made, facts would be weighed, and a decision would be made from the gathered information. This is the same kind of treatment that Tony Stewart deserves and should be getting.

If a person who wants to look deeper into something rather than one who jumps to a decision based on limited knowledge is a Bozo than I guess that's exactly what I am.

I am officially bowing out of this chain and will comment no more. I will leave it to the authorities to sort out the facts and draw a conclusion based on them.

Of course, it is natural to believe that what one believes is "the" truth, and there is no other way it could be. Clearly, there have been folks that believe equally strongly in the other two possibilities, with similar personal remarks.

And fans? No secret, I are one. As with the above discussion, there are lots of varying opinions, and lots of levels of expertise in the stands, just as there are in the pits, but we are all part of the Sport. Mutual respect seems like a natural thing. I cannot over emphasize the amount of respect for the level of commitment, fabrication skills, and driving skill that I see on the track--especially Florida short tracks.

Without the racers, the fans have nothing to watch. By and large, as Richard Petty has said (paraphrased), without the fans, the racers have nowhere to race.

I once worked as an equipment mech. for a large general contractor. The jobs were large, with multiple levels of field management. The biggest of the honchos once told me that even a laborer can have a great idea-- listen to all ideas, adopt the good ones.

"I will leave it to the authorities to sort out the facts and draw a conclusion based on them."--JB

I am hoping for more facts from the authorities. Their conclusion will be binding, but I nonetheless will let the facts lead me to an eventual personal conclusion.

Thx for your insights, Mr. Berti.

          • This is hyped because of Tony being a public figure. If this was billy bob and jim tom at local track USA you would have seen a 10 second news clip or a page 2 article.

The very 1st article i read was "Nascar's Tony Stewart" blah blah blah.

Tony is not back out in public because of the media, they even asked his team during interview with them and Jeff Burton who is filling in this weekend "where is Tony?" so they can go pester him.

The Ward family is unfortunately dealing with the same thing just not at as high level.

I stopped reading all of the articles when the authorities at the time could find no reason to see this incident as anything but just that, an incident without fault.

I think i remember hearing that you were on the same track as those two. As i recall you were on the broom crew and they were racing.

Maybe. This all stems from Tyler Graves. He was at the track that night, his very close friend Ward was killed, and in defense of his close friend, he blames Tony Stewart 101%. It was Graves who phoned every news outlet he could find, starting just minutes after the accident, reporting to them that Tony Stewart had intentionally run over and killed Ward. He played on the fact that the news outlets couldn't even spell sprint car, so they had no way of knowing whether or not his wacky story was true. But...it's a headline story because it's a NASCAR driver. And as Graves made sure to point out in every phone call, Tony Stewart is a loose cannon, a real hot head. And on top of all that, Graves said he was there, he was a Sprint car driver himself ( passing himself off as an expert ) and he saw with his own eyes Stewart swerve and run right over his friend. Even heard Stewart gas it to run him over.
This entire sad episode has been driven by this Tyler Graves character trying to get his name in the news at the same time getting revenge for his dead friend.
Let's wait for any additional facts to surface, but for now, the authorities have no evidence of any kind that the death was anything but an accident. Believe what you want, but that's what the authorities have announced. And they know FAR more about this incident than any of us.

                  • What if it were Junior? It's a story because unfortunately for TS half the people heard about it and their first reaction was "He finally killed someone?" It's his reputation as a hothead catching up with him. I myself initially figured he was brushing the kid back or throwing mud on him and misjudged. But after much thought, and yes I have driven them, and watching that video with the sound off I just don't believe there is one bit of evidence to support that.

I feel bad for all involved, including TS. In aviation they have a saying that safety procedures are largely written in blood, so maybe his death will keep others safe in the future.

In these modern times of the internet it is not very hard to find out any and all someone would need to know about a certain subject if they are willing to take the time to look it up and learn.
Ok, here's some learning for you!
I made it simple for you...
Basic stagger and how a car will track...at any speed, gassing it or not...
Take a Dixie cup and roll it bottom side left on a flat formica counter top...then see which way it rolls left, straight or right, the answer is LEFT ONLY!!!! ding ding ding!
Roll it as slow or fast as you want...this is 101 stuff! It will always roll the direction of the smaller circle automatically...you have to STEER it right.
You DO NOT have to gas a car with 12-15 inches of stagger to turn it left!!!!

Neat little physics lesson. You should go teach that to all the sprint car drivers out there and tell them they don't know what they're talking about. Better yet, take that dixie cup and make it miss an object one inch in front of itself, without moving it with your hands. Ding, ding, ding.

                        • The "sprint car drivers out there" are not in agreement.

But, it seems like it would be an easy thing to check.

Not enough information yet, but hopefully it will be forthcoming.

It will roll in a circle left or right which ever way you push the cup.

This is your argument? While calling other (ignorant) LMFAO.

Put your dixie cup on a square frame with straight front and rear axles, no front stagger and 15" stagger in the rear, then roll it on numerous types of surfaces, put power to just the dixie cup and put most of the weight there too and see what kind of resistance you get determined by direction, speed surface conditio.......................................... ...never mind.

                              • Winger, I'm just going to say it, your a idiot. That Dixie cup would have a much easier time missing something to the right then the left. What way would it go with no power to the wheels? 101 idiot!Argue that photographer....stick to taking pictures. To the other clowns, stick to being a half ass announcer and the other focusing on that ugly Racecar that I assume is yours. What actually do they call that? Down here, it would be a crappy sportsman, no offense to others, nobody would really care what you thought in a drivers meeting.I give, ground pounder, this is just a waist of time.
