Bob Luscomb

Bob was a great racer and an even more prolific car builder... I was lucky to be a "go-fer" for him for several years...
This photo was taken at Plant Field during the 1975 IMCA Winternationals... Bob is posing with another great person to remember, Vern "Flip" Fritch... Paralyzed in a wreck many years earlier, Fritch took up race writing and is well remembered for his articles in "Calvalcade of Auto Racing."

Just saw this Dave. Would not have had the life long career if it was not for Bob. Seen many racers come thru the shop. Thanks Bob.

Bob was truly talented. You get into him as a driver then he would amaze you with the cars he built. He clearly understood the engineering of a race car. I befriended Vern during the Golden Gate days for the Governors cup. I renewed my subscription to NSSN through him each November for years and made donations to his disabled drivers pool. One year he gave me an 8x10 of himself in a 57 mercury with his wheel chair at the edge of the track. He was a very memorable gentleman and his memorabilia was museum quality.

Luscomb

I've probably seen Bob Luscomb race from time to time, sorry to hear of his passing. Today, on a jobsite, a job sup was telling me about his buddy, Eddie Lupcomb, Bob's son, and we talked and talked about him and his son, Eddie.
Eddie, it seems now, lives in NC, and stories about Eddie being the best transmission specialist anywhere around. King of the transmissions, I was told. Ed has fallen on hard times, I was told, and is getting his life back together again now.
He is proud of his father, and I'me sure his dad would be of him, too.
