racing semi trucks i think he did it twice i remember one was his friend on pole in w900 kw big cat engine - one was classic mint diamond reo big engine had about four internationals cab overs 290 cummings and couple 350 and one 400 if any body knows any thing about semi trucks i had a kenworth with a silver 8v92 brand new engine in it

now we was just suppose to just put on a show . also those trucks were how we made our living during week well they dropped the green i remember starting last and got me three on first two laps but some body must have told the guy on pole and guy in diamond reo they was paying a million dollars to win you was not going to pass either one of those guys ain't sure nerone was not on pole but as we came down for white flag i put that texas bumper to right rear corner of that diamond reo

he got side ways started to wheel hop i thought he was going into grand stands
i think i got black flag and bent bumper and i did not even want to know who won not me

At one time there was the GATR (Great American Truck Racing) series that traveled and raced. I saw them at Rolling Wheels once. They ran dirt and asphalt but it didn't seem to last long. There was a woman driver that went on to better things in Nascar that won the championship, I believe. It was Shawna Robinson I think. It didn't really do much for me but if you were into the big rigs it could.

Shawna's probably who you're thinking of but she wasn't champion. she got RookieotY and won a single race.

I don't know if this is the right series but I remember seeing the semi's at Toledo speedway in 1978 or 1979. There was a woman racing then in a hot pink rig. I remember they were faster then some of the cars that raced that night.

Big Rigs ran at Orlando Speedworld at least twice !

I had the pleasure of announcing big rigs racing at Orlando Speedworld a couple times, got to meet and interview Harry Gant and Kenny Schrader as they strapped in for that race. Winter Parks own EJ Utley was one of the big shoes on the Trucker series and he came to one of my Charity go-kart fundraisers with hi truck one year, he was a cool guy !

The last race they hit the wall real bad in turn 2, took a big chuck out and that was the last time they raced.

I remember sometime back in the '80s when the GATR Big Rig Series came to Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, NY.

Back in those days I hosted my own auto racing talk show on radio, "Motorsports Talk" in the Springfield, MA marketing area. GATR management contacted me to do a show tied in with their big rig race at Lebanon Valley and I accommodated them.

My guest was Shawna Robinson who was one of their top drivers and the darling of the fans. She was and still is a very attractive woman. The show worked out very well for them and made for a most entertaining broadcast.

I went to the race, the stands were packed, and they had a good field of big rigs. It didn't work out so well as when the rigs raced the air was quickly filled with black smoke reducing visibility, fans were gagging, and I felt so sorry for the poor flagman and assistant flagman up on the flagstand. They earned their money that night.

Needless to say the series didn't last long and for good reason.
