Kyles best finish in points so far is 5th
don't even go there, Ed.
1 - top 12 points finishes in the Chase era have nothing to do with the prior method of cumulative season points.
2 - how many Hendricks cars have won that championship that were not driven by Gordon or Gordon's driver in the last 15 years? hrm. i think we all know that there are favored teams at Hendricks. otherwise, Mark wouldn't have lost his engineer to Junior this year.
3 - in 2008 Busch had the points LEAD to start the Chase. then he had two consecutive DNF's, one of them caused by a swaybar breaking. you can hardly blame that on the driver.
and you're still trying to distract us: you asserted that Busch wasn't much of a driver. the "evidence" that you presented for this is that he hasn't yet won a Cup championship.
that's a silly metric and you know it. there are a LOT of VERY good drivers who have never won a Cup championship. there are even some very good drivers who have never won a Cup race ( Steve Kinser and Dick Trickle come to mind ).
He also had a streak of finishing inside the top 10 in points for 12 years starting his 3rd FULL season.
interesting counterpoint here: i ran the numbers several years ago. that 12 year streak of Mark's? Earnhardt won three championships during that time ... and Mark had a higher average points finish. Mark was always just this >.< far away from closing the deal.
i don't think anybody would dispute that Martin is likely to go down as the best driver never to win a Cup championship.
i only brought him up to put paid to your "no championships" issue.
