  • Question for my northern friends

I will be in the Philadelphia area soon. What are the good tracks near there? I am going to try and sneak away from a family function and have one night of fun so I need a good track!! Thanks for any advice.

Well, if you pick the right weekend, you can go to Dover for some Nascar. Actually, I'm not familiar with the area but Williams Grove for a sprint show is a good bet. I think it may be a couple hour drive though. There's also Grandview that I've also heard good things about. Again, I've never been there but I've seen some of their regular drivers race at other tracks. Both are dirt tracks. Williams Grove is noted for their sprint shows and I believe Grandview is geared to Big Block Modifieds and Late Models.

If you like dirt..........go to New Egypt Speedway in N.J. It's only about 45 mins. to a hour away from Philly. Great DIRT modifieds and sometime sprinters. There is also....Port Royal, Sellingsgrove, Lincholn, and Bridgeport. All of these tracks are within 1 to 2 hours of each other.

        Good luck and have fun!

Depending what night you get free, I would say head due west for some sprint cars. I would put the holy grail at the top of the list - Williams Grove. It will be a bit of a drive but it is so worth it. You've also got Lincoln and Selings Grove out there too. The Delaware International Speedway is a dirt track in the opposite direction, where the living legend Kenny Brightbill has been knocking'em dead once again this year in modified competition.

If you have a whole day to kill, sneak out early to Gettysburg and then circle back to Williams Grove at night for the races.

Thanks all, great ideas. I won't have a whole day this trip unless the better half really gets mad at me so I better keep it to within 1 - 1 1/2 hours away. On the other hand...... Nah, I will be among all of her family and no one to back me up so I won't push it much...
