Who decided on this date? Where did you get the info? What tires ?Kinda short noticed. I just said something to both Butch and Kim a week ago to lets wait till the Sept. race to do this so we could maybe get the word out. Week and a half isn't enough. I'll never get done what I wanted to do for a race for him ( I was going to get a special/unique/real trophy built at my expense). That won't happen now. Thanks. By the way, Auburndale is running Modifieds the same night too.
Cara, it was always on the schedule since it came out. They just changed it into the memorial race on the schedule yesterday (Sunday). Before that it was just a 50 lap Modified race.
Be happy that you have the memorial and get your mod ready for it. May be short notice but better short notice than nothing at all. Would love to write the race for karnac but haven't had much luck with press credentials lately but I am sure your car will do great. It will be there right??? And if so, who is the driver??
I'm trying to get Kyle Busch hooked up with dd38 - my people are talking with his people as we speak....
Of course if you believe that, I've also got a coffee plantation for sale in Bithlo...
This may be short notice but I wonder how many of you remember this story... I mean this was really short notice... I think it was in NY State a few years back, some of you from up that way may remember this, that a track scheduled a memorial race and the guy they were running it for called them up to say he wasn't gone yet!! Seemed he had some kind of terminal disease that he managed to beat, but no one ever mentioned he was alive and kicking...
Hope this race goes well... Don't worry, there are plenty of Mods to go around between NSS and Auburndale...

i think your post cheapened the idea of having a race in Dennis's memory. "be happy you have the memorial" (even if its kinda shoddy) "Better than no notice at all" (no it isnt! it's better to wait and do it properly) David is right. It needs to be a very special race and there isnt enough time to do that. It is the reason i am going to work with David, Tony, and Jason to create a very special race night in memory of Dennis. He deserves that. I think you just got caught between a rock and a hard place. your wording hurt people. i got calls. you knew dennis well... im sure you want him to be remembered in a less sloppy way. Not your fault.

Jane,
I know you did not mean for your response to David to come across the way that it did. I know you have been going through alot of personal things lately, but I was shocked when I read your post. I am not downing you, but it was kind of cruel. I know the schedule was not your fault.
David was right, it is to short of a notice for it to be done properly. And as usual New Smyrna is not doing any advertising about it. It may be on their website, but not everyone gets on the computer to see just NSS website.
I would not have known about it, if I had not seen a post of Facebook from Jason. Then his grandmother called me to tell me about it. This is the first time I have been on Karnac for awhile. I was called about your response and you know me, I had to get on here to see what was going on. We haven't gotten to go to any races lately due to Johnny's health. I still and always will love racing, especially if my boy Jason is running.
Dennis deserves the very best memorial race that can be put on and I know there are people that are out of state that would want to be there to remember Dennis, they need time to work it into their schedules, not 2-4 weeks. There are alot of racers that would not have been able to race if it had not been for Dennis helping them out. He was the type of person that would do anything to help anyone out, if it was within his power to do so. You know that from personal experience.
He was a wonderful friend to everyone and I am so thankful that he was a part of our lives. He was my best friend, besides my husband Johnny. I know David feels the same way.
God broke the mold when he made Dennis and I don't see why there can not be more than one memorial race to recognize and salute the best engine builder that ever walked the face of this earth.
I do and will alway love Jason, Jordan and all the Boyd family. They will always be a part of our lives. If you did not get to know Dennis during his life time, you missed out on one of the best thing could have happened to you. We miss you and love you, Dennis.
Not to worry. ive spent the day calling drivers and they are ALL responding in a positive way. Dennis was loved by many and this race will be a huge tribute to the man he was. I planned on the anniversary of his passing but after talking to drivers, we think it will be better to have the race in January... Nascar will be off and the drivers will have a month after this race to prepare for Speed Week.
Even people who arent driving said they would come to honor their friend...
Heres an example of the list ive been working on who have said Y~E~S!!!
Super Mario Gosselin, Brian Finney, Dustin Dunn, Jimmy Cope, Tim Russell & MORE! Lots more! Keep reading KARNAC "Realracinusa" and be in touch! Once again my dear friend Tony Carreno will help me with the plans for a successful race night and I am so happy that you and Johnnie will be there!
Luv ya
