I have no intentions of rehashing what the problems were or why... But the news you have been waiting for is official. Kevin Williams and Michael Chase are the new owners of what used to be CCMP and now will be Punta Gorda Speedway.
Kevin Williams is the perfect guy for the job. He used to race , he owns the Legends Series, has a son who is a phenominal racer. has businesses that have never gone in the red and a wife who will support and help him in his newest adventure. His plans are to clean up the property and make PGS a professionally run & fun race track.
All the debts will be paid off and drivers who are holding bad checks will be able to cash them real soon.
I hope all the drivers who left feeling frustrated and angry will come back. We the fans love you and I personally want to see some high action Late Model racing, some hard a$$ed OWM racing and put the past behind us.
Prices will be modified and everything in the place will be analyzed and fixed! I think we will have the finest short track in the state when Kevin takes over completely.
Just for the record... Bobby went to the drivers meeting and he humbly apologized to everyone saying he was completely at fault and that he isnt a good businessman. Bobby got in over his head and just couldnt handle finances as they should have been. No sense in kicking a guy when he is down. No one can argue that Bobby had huge dreams and that he is by far one of the best promoters around. He has a heart of gold and went way out to help people. But in the end he lost it all and no one can make him feel worse than he does. Bobby still owns the FASTRUCK Series and he will continue to work with Ronnie Sims....
I wish Kevin the best. I know he will make us proud and I hope everyone will show him the respect he deserves and I hope you will all forgive Bobby for his shortcomings. He is hurting more than you can imagine. He has taken full responsibility...
We need to start thinking new!!! We are fans of PUNTA GORDA SPEEDWAY and I pray our faithful awesome late model drivers and OWM drivers will come back...Also the wonderful fans who have seen enough failure at our track, come back home! We miss everyone.. I am sure Kevin Williams will make it all right and give us a place to be proud of...everything I have written here comes straight from Kevins lips to my ears and I trust him with all my heart. GOOOOOOOOOOOO KEVIN!
