  • Sonny's Fast 100 and Street stock/pure stock figures 8's at Citrus this week!

We will be having a Street Stock/Pure Stock 20 lap figure 8 race along with the Sonny's Fast 100 this week at Citrus County Speedway.

Friday night practice with a live band, catered Sonny's bar-b-q, and one free keg of beer till it lasts.

Saturdays Sonny's Fast 100 should be a very exciting race, the return the Fast late model series is sure to be an exciting race after the last race at Auburdale speedway. Last race we had two drivers take the start from the rear bonus with Wayne Anderson cashing in on the bonus by taking the victory in the series opener. Adding to the excitement of the race will be the return of Mike Bresnahan to asphalt racing. After being sidelined with an injury, Mike will be returning to the track at which he dominated the super late model field for several years before swithcing to dirt racing after his track championship in 2007. Mike will be piloting the WaterWorks carwash #21 owned by Kelly Hosch.

The figure 8 race will be a test to see if there is any interest in this type of figure 8 racing, this is how they started and and we always had near 20 cars with this rules package. The pro figure 8's have become very specialized cars and just don't seem to have the car count right now. The race will be run under Citrus street stock rules which can be found here www.citruscountyspeedway.com We will also like to have any pure stock, enduro, or other classes that will fall withing the SS rules race. I will list the payout info below, if anyone has any tech questions please refer to Travis Nichols at 352-585-3560, any other questions you may call the speedway at 352-726-9339 and leave a message or you can call John Chance at 352-201-8257. If this race is a sucess we will continue to have them and run for an increased purse!

    Payout:
    1. $350
    2. $250
    3. $175
    4. $125
    5. $100
    6. $90
    7. $80
    8. $70
    9. $60
    10. $50

    11-24 will reacieve $25

We're getting a lot of positive feedback on the F8 race, hope we can grow this type of figure 8 racing to be as sucessful as the rest of our classes at Citrus County Speedway.

19 super late models practiced last night, 4 more confirmed drivers coming today as well as a few surprises I'm sure. Should be a great night, qualifying will be at 4:30 and the race program will take the green flag at 5:30, hope to see everyone there.....

24 cars took the green flag with Herb Neumann taking the victory. Austin Kirkpatrick lead the early part of the race before Mike Bresnahan came from his 4th starting position to take the lead. Shortly after losing the lead, Kirpatrick broke a rear end and had to retire. Only a few laps after that on a restart Bresnahan's ride suffered a brake problem sending him to the pits. This gave the lead to Neumann who was running a strong second at the time. Wayne Anderson came home 2nd followed by Scott Grosenbacker.
