  • Blast for next year suggestions

Where would you guys like to have next years blast ?
Is there any one you want to see that maybe we can find.?
I realize we have just finished this years event but,I have tired to start putting together next years list of where and who we haven't contacted in the past so all your suggestions are welcomed.
It takes along time to organize this and I would very much like to looking for drivers that we haven't been able to contact. So let us no..
We will be making some changes this year so hope you like it. Joyce

First, don't have the guys actually race next year... Secondly, hold the Blast on a Saturday before a regular race program... Sometime in April so it's not too chilly or hot and the chance of rain is much less... Hold the Blast from 10AM-4PM with a nice BBQ lunch and have plenty of memorabilia plus also a vintage race car display along with the possibilty of a swap meet... Everyone attending the Blast would get free admission to the evenings races and the old-timers would get introduced to a new generation of fans... My suggestions for next year would be Auburndale, Volusia or East Bay... Still pretty much in the central part of FL... This would also bring out more "regular" fans because not many showed up at Citrus...

As big an asphalt fan as I am, I think you should try East Bay or Volusia. Might draw some (more) (older) dirt guys, along with the asphalt guys.

        Blast Suggestions

While I've not attendd either of the two Blasts I've heard good things about them and I agree with Dave that there does not need to be any racing. That said, the event should be a stand alone function and not in conjunction with a race of any type. By holding it with a race the effect is duluted. Some of those who race can't visit with others and its very confusing that way. I've attended reunions both ways - with and without a race and at a track or away from a track and a stand alone event is much better.

For those of you not aware there is going to be a Hialeah Speedway reunion the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, in Celebration, near Kissimmee, and it should be a fabulous affair. Ronnie Bacelo is the organizer and its being done in Central Florida as so many of he Hialeah racers, crews, fans etc have migrated away from South Florida over the years.

My $.02 is run it like Jerry does the modified reunion just do it on DIRT. Same format, day of a big race that night and let the fans see the cars and drivers and just enjoy the chat session and such. A couple of hot laps or parade laps is fine without all out racing since some of these cars are very hard to replace.

I am listening to your suggestions and will consider what you are saying. How ever a lot of the blast has to do with that race. They come just to race some of course not all so I am not sure about that part. How ever I will take it into consideration.I appreciate all the suggestions. So keep them coming.I am a very open minded person and will listen to what you all have to say I just can't guarntee any thing at this point. Thanks, Joyce
