I heard the official low here in the Ocala area was 19. Just for the record, the coldest I've ever felt was 7, with blizzard conditions and a wind chill of minus 40. That was during the massive late 80's snowstorm in upstate South Carolina. Funny, but when you move down here to Florida something in the climate turns you into a wimp. The cold feels so much colder down here! What's up with that?

I remember that snowstorm. It was in 89. beaufort got 8 inches. The most before or after that in my lifetime was like an inch or so.

It was cold enough to make all my four legged babies come in and sleep with their mom. Not much room in the bed for me with Haley, Oscar and at least 4 of my 10 kitties but we were all warm. Haley and Oscar are the dogs. Only one who really didn't like it was Speedy, the turtle who said it was way too cold for him. And yes, I like animals and somehow they find me when they need homes.

Like ovalracer said: too dang cold. I'm from upstate NY and have experienced 20 to 30 below weather too often. Even seen 40 below. I remember hunting deer when it was 20 below and decided that I'd had enough fun that day. I've snowmobiled with temperature 25 below and loved it. But the houses are insulated well and heat is pretty efficient and you seem to warm up quicker. For some reason the cold in Florida really feels cold. Must be that blood has thinned too much. Or maybe it's the old age.

BTW, Bob I'm getting sick of mowing my lawn. Send that goat up here.

I think its humidity. the mechanic at the supply store for my landscape maintenance equipment is from northdakota, and he was telling me that the dry cold ad 10 below doesnt feel as bad as 30 degrees here with 90 percent humidity

It was 8 above here today with a high of 24. It felt much better today than yesterday when it was a low of 20 and a high of 31 with 10-15mph winds with 20+mph gusts and 72% humidity, the feels like temp yesterday was 10 but the wind went right through you.
