I don't like the idea, but I foresee them trying to make this a mandatory engine in this class in the future... This will be done with the "idea" of reducing the costs of racing... The problem with that is not everybody in Super Stock spends a fortune to have an engine built, so how many people are we going to give the "boot" too when this happens...

    have a great day all...
I'm really convinced the tracks think the racers are ALL wealthy!

Besides the Rule book, The schedule for the REAL OPEN WEEEL MODIFIEDS, they only have them racing 7 total times ALL YEAR LONG!!!!! 3 at Orlando and a whole 4 times at N.S.S.!!!! That means a new set of tires each time we run (because they are all 50 lapers).

movindirt, you are right about no Vortec heads in Sportsman but the 602 crate engine is allowed in Sportsman and has to be run the way it came out of the box. If you go to the website for James Rivard Chevrolet and pull up the price list and tech specs for this motor, it comes with Vortec heads. The price for the engine with free freight is $3200 and will run on 92 octane. The track won't be selling as much racing fuel.

Who is in charge of writing the rules? Really trying to take the fun out of racing for us, a low budget family racing team. Guess that is why we have not raced in two years. First it was the tire change and then taking away heat races. Sorry, I am not wealthy in anyway and if I was , I would be racing in a different class with a fast car. I am only in it for the fun and it has gone away.

It is really too bad Cara because Racers like you are the ones that made this sport/hobby/business what it is... And it does seem that the organizations are heading away from the family/small racer that made it such a great thing... I love this sport more than anyone knows, and I know there are many people like us that do; But unfortunately things are not as grand as they were in Florida and if we as racers don't have a big dollar team that spends moogoo bucks it seems as if we get dropped by the wayside.

Have a great day and hope to see all at a racetrack later...

Hmmm it seems as if I hear someone practicing at the track this morning....

the top two or three super stocks at nss have way more money in their motors than the $3200 the 602 costs . yes im sure some can build cheaper but as you can see at the track every saturday money is up front winning races and the championship . i personally know a couple that spent $6500 on their motor and still cant touch those guys . sorry to disagree but id rather spend $3200 than $ 6500 , or more . going to the 602 levels the playing field , puts racing back to driver and setup . and saves everyone money . give the guys a year to use up their high dollar stuff and go to the 602 . and if tech does their job and police these motors from day one , more guys can afford to race competively . at this time with the economy and horrible car counts , anything a track can do to save the racer money is a plus .
