  • Don't forget - BLAST FROM THE PAST IS THIS SUNDAY AT CITRUS

The 2nd Annual Blast from the Past is this Sunday at Citrus County Speedway. Going to be a day filled with fun and great times. Please come and share old memories with the best and help make some new memories for the present. Grandstands are $10.00, children 12 and under FREE. Pit gate is $20.00, children are $5.00 in the pits for the bbq.

Jim will have the NAPA ride-along car there for your thrills and hopefully Kevin will have his Kevin Harvick car there. Dave Westerman will be announcing the races. Going to be one fun day so please join us at Citrus.

There is also camping overnight on Saturday but you are asked to please wait until after the Saturday night races are over before trying to come in to camp. Also, the Super 8 Motel in Wildwood has special rates for the Blast from the Past, all you need to do to get the special rate is tell them that you are there to attend the Blast From the Past. Alex and I will be staying there for sure.

Exactly what is the racing scheduled for the day? I can't seem to find any information anywhere. Is the day for "over 60" only drivers or is there other racing happening? Is it just one race or several? I'm just wondering what the fan in the grandstand sees for their admission.

Racing will start at 1 and last year there were several different classes that did race in the Blast and yes, it was all drivers over 60. I don't know exactly how many classes that Joyce has this year but you can email her at slankfordl@aol.com and she should be able to tell you. But it was alot of fun last year and the guys had a great time. I know Cecil Lewis won the Modified race last year. But I am not sure how many classes they do have racing Sunday plus hopefully there will be some dirt cars there also. They were all invited and given fliers I know.

I'm glad about the dirt people being involved.....this Blast idea is a great time to bring both asphalt and dirt people together.... everyone can "Cross Lines" and learn about each other.
I know once I went to some dirt races and met people "OVER THERE", I became a fan of both asphalt and dirt... I still have my major preference, but enjoy both.
It would be a great thing to see the BLAST really bring both DIRT and ASPHALT together in one big venue. That would probably be a first in the racing community - they have been divided long enough - plus, what would we have to lose.
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

Blast from the Past is for both dirt and asphalt racers and Alex gave out all the fliers we had at Volusia to the dirt guys and they seemed to like the idea. Hopefully quite a few will show up because both are racing, just one on dirt and the other asphalt. But fliers were sent to the dirt tracks except for Southern Raceway and Northwest Florida Speedway in the panhandle.

Last Blast it was so hot you could cook an egg on the track so we moved the event to cooler times but hopefully not freezing times I know it is raining here with yet another cold front behind the rain. But I much rather be cold than hot but I don't like heat.

But we hope to see both asphalt and dirt drivers and all were invited to bring their cars so hopefully some dirt guys will. But it should be great!!!!!
