  • My Take on Things

Ya know...someone posted about "what do you do for your local racing??" (referring to me) in another thread. Not much. I'm just a fan of great short track racing. This is a message board; if I see something I don't agree with, I'll let you know. I even stated at the beginning of my post in that thread that I'm not the greatest at the English language (spelling and grammar). I *might* be good, but certainly not perfect at it. I criticized someone's article about the way it was written; take it as *constructive*.

I happen to work most weekends, which is why y'all don't see me at the races all that much. I have to take time off from work to go racing, since my work week goes from Saturday to Wednesday. It's not easy for me to take time off, since I work at one of the local theme parks. KARNAC is the way I keep up with racing here in Florida. I wish I *could* get to the races more often, but real life gets in the way first

And let's be honest - the racing here in Florida (on asphalt, anyways) lately hasn't been all that great. I didn't get up to New Smyrna for the World Series at all this year, so I'm not sure how the show was (other from what I read here and on Speed51.com). Then at Citrus, 27 Late Model cars; and at Bradenton - 19 cars. That's 46 of the best Late Model type cars in the state that COULD have run BOTH shows if DeSoto's IceBreaker was still run on Sunday. Can you say "Great show" and "heat races", and "consolation race"?? Man, that would've brought back memories of the old (original) Florida Triple Crown And then, I know at least one more Late Model that's sitting at home right now...that really can't afford to come out at the moment (but that's another story).

I've been around Florida short track racing for almost all of my 40 years. Been to (nearly) every current track in the state (with the exception of Bronson, Columbia, Five Flags, and Punta Gorda) at least once. Been to a LOT of tracks that ain't around no more. Was part of a crew on a Late Model for a number of years at quite a few tracks. Been to a lot of pretty big shows in this state (not many recently, though). So yeah...I've been around a few years ;-)

Y'all have a good'un up there at Citrus next week.

Just want to put my two cents in all this. Why is it John's fault all the time. His date was set , why not someone else changing theirs. Just my idea.
