Yea, I expected it to simultaneously show up on the Karnac results/stories area, but no luck as of yet. I wish they would just leave this stuff on the board. It was absolutely a story I would not have seen otherwise - and he did a dang good job - not over the top with hyperbole, etc. It may have been the best story I have read - ever.Too bad noone will ever see it...

Man, those are some crappy photos that are posted along with that article. Someone took those from the thumbnail section of my website. I sent higher quality photos to media and wish they had been used. I'd rather my photos not be posted at all than to use something of inferior quality. Particularly since I took the time to edit and send out some quality images the same night as the race.
Sorry, just feel it reflects on me and I can be an a$$ without any help.My photo site: http://www.rewingphotos.com

Yeah, I'm gonna be picky here.
I like to read the race results articles, but I think that some people need to proof-read and check their grammar before they post their articles. I'll admit, I'm not the most perfect guy either when it comes to spelling *everything* and grammar and stuff, but I know enough to know that some of the stuff in the article about that race needs to be checked:
"Bill has been involved with NASCAR since its conception" NASCAR "conception"? Shouldn't that read "INception"? And, this statement implies that Bill Desmond has been with NA$CAR since 1948, which was 62 years ago. How old is Bill Desmond...??!! I know that he was with All-Pro in the '80s and '90s, but he can't be *that* freakin' old.
"On lap 8, the 2nd and 3rd place cars, #85 and #98 mad contact going into turn 4, they both spun bringing out the caution and sending both cars to the rear of the field."What's "mad contact"? MADE contact? Is that what it's supposed to be? There should be a period after "turn four".
"On lap 50, the #119 of Zehr decided that the #09 of Grossenbacher had led for long enough and tried to get him lose."Should that be "loose"?
"...followed by the #07 taking second..."I saw no mention of a #07 up until this point. Is that supposed to be "#7"?
"Jeremy Gerstner, said he really had to use up his breaks..."How did he use up his "breaks"? Did he have to go potty or something? Coffe breaks? Lunch breaks? Ohhh...I see now. You meant "brakes", as in the things that slow down and stop a race car behind the tires and wheels.
Wayne Anderson, in the #84, had the fast time of 13.551
Wayne Anderson in the #84 and Steve Dorer
#84 of Anderson was now in 6th
between Anderson in the #84
#84 of Anderson was now in 4th place. By lap 59, Wayne Anderson in the #84
the #84 of Anderson was quickly moving in
#84 of Anderson,
the #84 of Anderson jumped out ahead of the field
We get the point. Wayne Anderson drives the #84.
You don't have to put every driver's car number with their name every three sentences.
PLEASE....spell-check and grammar check. It's a sports/race results article on a public Web site.
Oh - and "gcue", who is the "Mary" you were referring to? Did you just mis-type *MARTY's* name, I hope? Marty Little is one of the most respected guys in Florida short track racing history and media; please don't insult him(I'm sure Marty knew what was going on; just messin' with you guys...)

Jimmy, it is people like you who give racing in florida a bad name.
I volunteered my time to write that article and tried to get it out as quickly as I could since MARTY and others were wondering about the results.
I'd be curious to know how you volunteer your time to help your local tracks or short track racing in general here in Florida, or do you just sit in front of your computer all day and night trying to give people a hard time?Phil Schryver

Phil - to hell with those guys - you did a good job and thanks for doing it. I got to read the story I wanted to read. Tell Winger to get his panties out of a wad about his precious photo and Jimmy should not be giving anyone grammar lessons anytime this century.

OK, there are things in stories that I read all the time that bug the heck outta me, but I realize that most of the people writing these stories are not trained journalists... I have a BA degree in journalism and have been writing in some aspect or another (not just racing) for over 30 years... "Old Yeller" on this board is also a professional journalist and I know has written articles for Car & Driver and many other automotive-related magazines...
I use a style that is concise, to the point, and takes what was considered the most important race of the night as the lead topic and goes from there... Most everybody I've talked to likes what I write, so hopefully that's the case...
I also have an e-mail list that automatically delivers all my stories to various papers, websites and individuals... Anyone writing for a track or Series should have this set up so that everyone that wants it gets it...
I think Phil did a good job reporting on the FAST race and I'm sure will take your comments into consideration... BUT AT LEAST THE RACE GOT A STORY WRITTEN ABOUT IT... The only thing you can do is employ someone as a copy editor to go through each story and make it "journalistically correct." As far as I know, KARNAC has never done this and can't afford to anyway.
Andy S. is a great writer but unfortunately his stories are much too long for most publications and websites to use... The more concise a story Marty Little or I write, National Speed Sport News will chop it down to nothing, plus they won't even attempt to edit a story the size of Andy's...
I for one don't mind seeing the stories on the message board, but when they are posted to the results page it is very simple to just scroll down to "Florida Race Results" and see everything... I really don't see why some people find this so difficult...
There are also a lot of parts of this message board that unfortunately go pretty much unused and I'm one of the culprits...
By the way, if you want to check out the mother of all message boards, go to the Jalopy Journal website and check out their H.A.M.B. You can spend hours on there.
