  • Check out February's Dirt Late Model Magazine

You need to check this out. Jack Smith wrote a great article in February's Dirt Late Model Magazine on Ocala Speedway Returns to It's Roots. Good story, worth reading.

    Good job Jack!!!!!!!!

    ?

Ya know...I went to their site and looked for the article you mentioned. There was a link I could click on that led me to another page where, after about 10 minutes of looking, I was able to access a private, members only page that let me download a copy of the story after I signed into their homepage and registered a minimum of 15 hits on their advertiser's links.

But it was a good story.

        Steven Cole Smith--

A local Orlando Sentinal writer, covering the auto section quite heavily for some years now, wrote a great article for Car And Driver magazine not all that long ago, "So You Want To Own A Racetrack", about Ocala Speedways' ownership couple, and their dice-rolling decision to convert it back to dirt. Good article, if I could find the link for it.......

"There have been drivers, now famous, who used Ocala Speedway as a step up the ladder—NASCAR Sprint Cup driver David Reutimann was a regular until just a few years ago—but it’s the drivers you’ve never heard of, and likely never will, that keep people like Peters and Clifton in business."

this should be stapled to the foreheads of race track owners and promoters.

It is all the drivers like you and your dad that do keep the tracks going - what you called the little guys except they aren't really little but the every weekend person who goes out and races his/her heart off every Friday or Saturday night. And I appreciate each and every one of you because you make the tracks.

Have a good weekend Mr. Todd. You know I love ya - Jane

P.S. There is NO ONE like your dad in an Enduro race. You know how much I love watching him wheel a car and he can definitely do that. He sails from the rear to the front and does it with style. It is the Ron McCrearys that we need to appreciate more.
