Modified Reunion CANCELED

The weather forecast has gone from a 50% chance of rain on Friday, up to 100% chance, and I don't want anyone to waste their time and money to head out for what looks to be a miserable day.

I failed to put together a Rain Date plan, and it's too late to start one now. This WILL be fixed for next year.

I do wnat to send out a very sincere Thank You to all the people who have helped me with this, supported the idea, and had plans to be there.

You can't imagine how disappointed I am in having to make this decision, but I feel strongly that it's the right thing to do for everyone involved.

I was going to announce this on Friday, but the 2011 Modified Reunion will be the last one I host. I never intended this thing to go on and on forever, but I will be working very hard over the next 365 days to make sure that the last one, will be the BEST one.

I'll see everyone around the various tracks this season, and hope you reserve a day off work to join us in 2011

I think you are making a good call on this. We've been watching the forcast all week and it was getting worse every day.
Guess I can go pull the charger off now and wait for the Blast at Citrus next month. Hope to see you there.

I am so sorry Jerry that you had to cancel this. I know you and Carol put alot of hard work into this reunion and this would have been the first year that I actually was going to be able to stop by for a few minutes and see your reunion on my way to Volusia. Mother Nature has not been kind at all this year. We have had 3 rainouts already but Tonya said we are going to do everything in our power tomorrow to run depending on how fast this front moves thru.

I know the amount of hard work you have put into this and I am really, really sorry you had to cancel. Hopefully next year will be better and if I am still here, I can stop by and see you.

Jerry... & all concerned with the Modified reunion....

this is really sad news but understandable.... the veterans of Modified racing are getting along in years and not in the best of health. we wouldnt want them endangering their health. Not to mention how much hard work is involved with all who participate.
i am sorry about your decision to end the reunions. if i had the energy (i am almost 68!) i would continue on with the reunion but its time for the younger generation to take over. I have witnessed the smiles and pride of the men and women who have joined us at NSS the past 2 years. what joy seeing them be able to relive happy times they remember with their friends and competitive racers! how fun to see the old vintage cars and to take chances to win the coveted signed helmet! It has been a joy that im so sorry i couldnt help you with this year. (just not feeling well)...
i think a very special thank you needs to be given to Robert Hart and all the wonderful people at NSS for not only allowing this awesome reunion but doing so much to help make it special.
Jerry... thank you for all the hard work... it is not an easy thing to do! I hope you will reconsider next year. would it help if we put a team together and the work gets more spread...? let me know...
thank you for letting me be such a big part of the reunion... i got to live some of the most wonderful memories of the 60's!!!i got to see old friends such as Bobby Pendergast... i also got to talk to so many awesome drivers from the past...Pete Hamilton, Bugsy Stevens, Gene Bergin, Lou Boyd, Will Cagle, Bill Wimble, Ron Bouchard, Leo Cleary and so so many others. I am so disappointed i wont get to see Doug Heveron and his lovely wife this year. They are so special to me...and of course some of our regulars that are still racing or even just fans today.. is always nice to see them.

GEOFF YODER WRITES:Jerry Binner has rescheduled the Modified Reunion to Saturday February 13, 2010..The New Smyrna track wanted to have a 2010 Reunion rain date this Saturday
so all is back on for Saturday..Vintage cars can start ariving at 9 AM and the Reunion will commence at 12 noon..As originally scheduled they will have a 10
lap hot lap session in the early evening..Schedules will be handed out when you arrive and there will be a drivers meeting late afternoon..If you have made
new plans or cannot make Saturday for any reason no problem as it is very much understood but if not we would love to have you at the speedway Saturday

Hey Todder, the Daytona race has always been mid February for 51+ years.......never rained out....So who knew??
