  • NSS - show needs some Umph!

Hopefully next year with the new motor rules it will draw a little more depth to the SLM field. Then again, maybe the tire-gate situation will level it out some. Either way, this is likely going to be a Choquette/Russell/Rogers charity event for the umpteenth consecutive year. First two shows stunk - save for Russell's late pass on Choquette Saturday.

Crate Race Saturday was a great race - and of course they didnt run Sunday! The FL Mods were interesting, but a caution every two laps is kinda lame too. Late run by Butler in the Sprints was cool, but that was about it.

Other than that - the show was flat and the wrecker crews might want to wake up to at least give the appearance of hustling. Perhaps another wrecker in the mix would help - only having two is not enough.
Going back to VSP for a few days - hopefully more SLMs will show for the late week races at NSS.

Not to start anything here but ar eoyu going to balme those 3 SLM drivers because no one else is stepping up? Wasn't it last year or the year before that Jack Landis won 1 and Ted Christopher won a couple? Are those 3 supposed to put restrictor plates on?

As far as the wrecker crews, for them to get paid what they get paid, sign yourself up for all nine nights, plus the practice day, I think they are doing good. The track determines how many they have so don't blame the crews for that.

Blame them - hell no, I am actually a fan of all three, but for a "speedweeks" show, I would expect a few more contenders. I actually blame the isolationist view FASCAR has taken over the last five or so years.

The wrecker crews have been slow to arrive and figure out what to do on nearly every wreck they are finally dispatched to. Now whether that is a race directors call or them picking their noses - I couldnt tell you. What I can tell you is that sitting in the bleachers, it sucked. They could use another wrecker as well.

For only running 5 - 6 races a night they burn alot of time. The other night when they had to stop the crate late models on the front stretch to get them in their starting order for about 10 minutes when all that should have been done on pit road - all i could think of was the show at VSP where they ran more than twice as many races in the same amount of time. Each lined up in staging well in advance and getting the green out of 4 the first time by!

Its not just the tow trucks, its the whole show in general that seems to drag a little. During qualifying a car wrecked pretty hard coming out of four right in front of the ambulance. I was watching everyone in the pits just kind of standing around. Good thing the driver wasn't hurt. It seemed like a couple of minutes before anyone responded.

I thought the Sks and tours limited the number of caution laps and did a pretty good job of getting them green again. It would be nice if everyone else did the same.
