  • Updates will be here tonight from Volusia

Check it out tonight - updates from Volusia Speedway Park starting around 6 pm.

    Jane

It is 7:05 and the All Star Sprints are on the track for qualifying. Next up are the DIRTcar Modifieds for their heat races. So far the Florida boys look pretty good especially Kyle Bronson and Wayne Hammond. David Reutimann has taken over the wheel of the #00 Modified. We will have to wait and see if he does better than dad did last night. Rob Underwood has gone up in a cloud of smoke during hot laps. Not sure if he lost the engine or what but he may not make the show tonight. Kent Corbin has brought the #OK Modified out to play. Will updated how they do after heat races.

Two of the local modified drivers have made it to the A-Main and do not have to race in the B-Main. Wayne Hammond and David Reutimann both finished second in their heat races. Garrett Stewart finished 8th and Kent Corbin finished 10th so both of them will go to the B-Main along with Kyle Bronson who was running third in his heat but spun and was forced to go to the rear and only came back up to 7th or so. Rob Underwood was unable to race at all. Up next, Sprint cars.

Sprints have taken the track for the first of four heat races. Right now the dust is flowing out of turns 3 and 4 as they fly by. Stay tuned for more updates:

Kent Corbin has made it into the A Main for the Open Wheel Modifieds. Rob Underwood was able to race the B Main but did not make the A Main. Neither did Kyle Bronson. It is now up to David Reutimann, Kent Corbin, and Wayne Hammond to show what the Florida boys can do in a Modified. Sprints are now on the track for their A Main and it is not even 10 yet. What a great night.

#9 Joey Saldana has won the A Main for the All Star Circuit of Champions. Craig Dollansky was second in the #7 followed by #11 Steve Kinser, #5W Lucas Wolf and #15 Donny Swatz. Mods are up next.

Jane, this is great. Since I can't get there this year, this is the next best thing.
Thanks for all you do. Our prayers are with you and your family. billy

Thanks Billy, I am trying. This is my first Winternationals and it really is AWESOME. I have met some great media people from all over the country and gained new friends. Will try and keep everyone updated as much as I can. Last night the media room was packed so I was working wherever I could but hopefully we will do this every night. My job is more on the local boys but will try and cover as much as I can.

Hopefully I will see dad a few minutes today before I have to leave for Volusia. But his speech has improved and now all they need do is get all the water out of his lungs they found in there. Don't really know how long that will take. But thank you for the prayers, mom and I really do appreciate them more than you know.
