  • opening night at VSP

Can't argue with the car count at Volusia! They ran 70+ modifieds and 40+ sprints. In fact the sprint field included the biggest stars of that type of racing. It was a very solid turn-out and a well organized show.

I got a kick out of their fan pit pass. If you buy a grandstand ticket ($29!), you can then sign a waiver and wander around in the pits. Good idea! It is even more pleasent to walk around in pits that are well lit and have working speakers, an example that not all tracks follow.

Kudos to VSP for having plenty of push trucks on hand to get the sprint cars going. (I counted 9) In past years with only 2 or 3 the amount of time it took to get the sprints rolling (and running again after a red flag) was the only real drawback to a speedweeks show. But with all the trucks it really sped that portion of the show up.

Yea, the track really did a lot of little things right last night - kudos to them. The carnage in the mods couldn't be helped, but they did a great job of moving things along.

That flip on the opening lap of the mod feature was unbeleiveable. Somebody about lost the front of their RV during the sprint feature, that car was almost over the fence.

Fan Pit Pass is an awesome bonus. We got there early, walked all the pits, saw everybody who was anybody. I didnt realize how many cars they had in the lower pits.

The funniest thing to me was Austin Dillons bright spanking new white uniform, outside his pristine trailer, stocked with tires and motors, when compared to alot of the others. I guess if you have the money, go ahead and spend it.

A+ on the show! Sprints were flying around there with a 13.2 taking the pole.

      Be back tonight.

I did see Boneman but didn't get to speak to him. Hope to see some of you tonight. What a great night except for the wrecks which were scary.

well, when you're only charging $30 for a pit pass it's kind of ridiculous not to allow the fans to check out the pits.

Pit passes are $40 Todd so there is an $11 difference. But everyone seemed to love wandering thru the pits especially with the All Stars.
