  • 5 cool things about the PASS race at NSS

1 Sunday afternoon! I really liked the fact that they rescheduled for Sunday and the Saturday night rainout. Afternoon racing is great, especially at this time of the year. Did it affect the crowd? Who knows?

2 Jump the start and you get fined $500, then you are sent to the rear. Can you imagine if we tried that? We would bankrupt half the field on the first night, and run out of room at the back. It worked well today; the double file starts looked fine.

3 The announcer broadcast in-car communication with the lead cars during yellows. It worked great, and I would not be surprised if FASCAR has it in place for the World Series.

4 Kevin Ingram. The guy makes things happen, no one would argue that. I'm glad he is not in my class, and he seems to attract a lot of attention from officials and other competitors, so feel free to read between the lines. Gotta admit, the guy drives fast and is never boring.

5 Tunaman didn't go! Kidding, actually #5 is the fact that there was more passing and lead changes than any SLM race I've ever seen there. I don't know what their rule package was, but something worked out today.

    World Series coming up!!

Try this Rex, they run our rule package but the big motors and spec motors have to weigh 25lbs more. Anybody that was there think outsiders can't compete in FL anymore? Me thinks Ricky Brooks is gonna read between the lies and find the truth when he gets here for speedweeks.

I forgot about the restart rule - i thought the same thing! Also, having the flagman control the start - always having start on the straight seemed to help the parity on restarts.

      Now to hijack this thread...

I don't think it had squat to do with the motors in this case - i think it was a combination of the drivers, tires and rules regarding the racing and their enforcement - consistently.

The drivers absolutely drove the hell out of their cars - as was evident every lap coming out of four - they should get the credit in my opinion.

Tim - You gotta stop taking every opportunity to praise the spec motor - it hurts your cause. Like it or not the florida spec motor is the one on the outside - I am kinda sick of hearing about the damn thing and wish it would just go away to be honest.

        You said it best Bubba....

Thank you! You have just defined FL SLM racing today with these motors. And yes you are right, for the last three years the drivers should have gotten the credit, not the motors.

And Bubba, I'm not praising the Spec Motor, I am defending the 80%+ of the FL SLM drivers that have them and are considered to have an advantage over the rest of the country. I am saying what I have always said. It is competitive (not dominant) against the best competition in SLM racing with the right set up, crew and driver.. And that is what you saw today. A great heads up race.

Back to my question, was there anyone at that race that thinks that non Florida drivers can't compete in FL or at NSS?

Sorry Rex I will post on what I liked soon. Well......I liked all of it, Flagman starts, double file restarts, hell I bought into all of it.

i know one Strictly Stock driver who would be bankrupt on the first start.

Perhaps I jumped the gun on critiquing you for "praise" of the motor - it is kind of like reading one of Janes VSP posts - you don't know when the blind promotion will come, but if you wait long enough it will show. As the self described defender of the FL SLM world - you have lost some credibility on the subject with your agenda firmly tattooed your chest.

As Boneman said in a previous post, the only way to get folks to beleive the equality is to show the dyno results done by someone we all trust - has no interest in it, with different scenarios being run.

I kmow it's just me on my soapbox again.

One thing I have found in this business.........EVERYTHING "has" to be a conspiracy because nobody trusts anybody. That's what keeps this whole business upside down and unfocused.

I trust Ricky Brooks integrity and I think he is going to figure out during speedweeks that everything he has heard about FL racing is a load of bullshit. We have a group of racers that perform at the level they do because they keep the hoods shut and work on their cars to make them turn left.

-----> stepping down off my soapbox now......

I almost forgot #6, the fastest car did not start on the pole. It looks like the top 10 drew for position. Its not perfect, the TBARA 12 car invert is better, but it is so much better than starting straight up.

Fastest car started from 4th, 2nd fastest drew pole, and 3rd fastest time drew to stay where he was.

any odds how many starts/restarts take place going into turn 3,midway between 3 and 4,the inside row getting stuck behind the pace vehicle, start coming out of 4,or start on the front straight.
