Interesting trip for me, was running late after a trip to the DeLeon Springs Sugar Mill Pancake House with the family turned into a 3 hr adventure. Couldnt make up my mind whether I wanted to chance the overcast skies or not. Of course, i did, and got there right about go time - which was running about 15 minutes behind.
Saw a few practice sessions run then a spitting of rain turned into a quick shower. The track did a good job mixing the mud into the track again and they also had a simple yet effective way of taking my mind off of sitting on a popcorn box to prevent my arse from getting wet. It seemed kind of corny, but it worked, they had some girl with a mic and an oversized die (OSF that means only one of two dice) with prizes on it. Gave away a few prizes and kept my ADD fueled mind occupied whilst they played in the mud. I have seen them do this or similar things in the past and it always distracts me from the wait.
The racing was good too, once they got going, the track was good and even with the winners leading most of the races, they were darn good races. Shady Grady Christianson had the drive of the night in the street stocks, spun two or three times, each time to come roaring back through the field cleanly.
