  • The best thing about the FASCAR banquet

The wife and I had a nice time at the FASCAR banquet last night. The location, next to Daytona's Victory Lane, was top notch, although the service and food left a little to be desired.

No problem, we were there for the company and not the food. FASCAR handed out a ton of trophys and point money, so it looked to me like everyone was pretty happy.

The best thing of the night? IMHO it was veteran SLM driver David Rogers. Here is a guy who has won countless championships in this area, but to me he looked genuinly thrilled to get the NSS SLM and Brighthouse Challenge titles.

I don't know David Rogers personally, but I am sure he was very pleased.

Once, I went to a Hedgehog show (honest, I did). When they finally awarded the top prize, "Best of Show", the owner of the winning hedgehog was so jacked up! I remember thinking how happy his response must have made the show organizers, after all you want to see your guests having a good time. I hope everyone went home as content as a racer can be, I know that we did.

Volusia Speedway Park has their annual banquet there also and I loved it. It was really a treat to be right there where the winner of the 500 and 400 go after the races. The food, well, it wasn't the best but just the place made everything ok. Glad you had such a good time last night.

The best thing about the FASCAR banquet was getting to meet your heroes!

We had a great time, had great company at our table (William Hindman had my wife in stitches all night long!) and it was wonderful to see the drivers being honored for giving people like us such great entertainment all season through such difficult times.

David Rogers getting his awards was a real highlight, but the two bits of the night that stood out for me were 72yr old Joe Gerard Sr winning Rookie of the Year for the OSW Modifieds, being described by Rusty Marcus as 'the future of racing', and Mark getting up on his chair to get his applause as one of the FASCAR staff!

The tributes at the start, and the speech made by Robert Hart were incredibly moving too, and it was obvious to see just how much the tracks and the people involved mean to him. For it was incredible to have people I'd never met before coming up to ask me about the reports I've been writing and say such nice things about them. All in all, a really great night out.

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to everyone who helped put the night on!

        YO BONES..

How would you rate the food last night compared to AH LETS SAY.... a big round sandwich from PUBLIX?

Not trying to start anything... just wondering and I figured I'd ask before EDM does.
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

The food at Daytona is no where near as good, and I guarantee it was a hell of a lot more expensive. (My wife loved the desert however). In fact, I'll go so far as to say that the food at the Little 500 will be better! Yep, we'll have pizza from the Cuddy's, chicken from Rick, and because they are so darn good, I'm bringing TWO big ole' sandwiches.

Not complaining about the FASCAR end of the banquet though, it went well.

            why?

I quit fishing because there was no one handing out money at the docks when i got back. Why did you quit racing?
