  • Need some information about Citrus County Speedway

Hey everybody. Well I'm planning on running the UDLMCS next year and I would like to know what gear to run. I'm be using a crate motor so if anybody can help. It would be nice.

    Gear

I bought a LLM/Sportsman from John Smith 1 1/2 years ago. It had a 667 final in it. He ran it at Citrus. Heard a 650 was good too, maybe better for a crate.

The UDLMCS is not running Citrus County Speedway. We are running Charlotte County Speedway.
Make sure you have your membership in so we can get your name on the roster and your drivers page up. The firsts race is on Feb 29th at Ocala Speedway! Don't miss it!!! www.fdlmcs.com

We run a 602 crate engine down there with a 4 speed tranny (about a 1.48 3rd gear) with a 3.90 rear and turn 6000-6100.

That would be a 5.77 final. Must be a 3/8 track and 6000 to 6100 is as much as you want to twist a 602 motor. Seen them blow at 6500 at Ocala(3/8) with a 6.20 final.
            Good Luck.

Yeah exactly.Thats why theres a 6200 limiter on it lol.Although, another "sealed" 602 crate motor that ran down here will turn 7200 like nothing...

I would like to have seen that. For how long did it run at 7200?

Or, can you spell "cheap tack". Even a 604 won't turn that for long.

I used to race motorcycles and some guys had Ducati's that turned 10,000
RPM's and 14,000 was red line. Thats turning. Bob.....

This was our 3rd year running crates and I can tell you for positive, a 602 turning that many RPM should be able to be popped illegal by Stevie Wonder when they pull the valve covers. The stock springs loose all valve control at around 6300-6400. The power drops like a rock over 6000.

Thank you for all your help. But how about the drivers with a 604 crate motor. What gear are ya'll running using a quick change?

                            Gear

After switching to a higher torque motor at lower rpm (spec motor) I switched from 633 rear to a 600 rear final and turned 6500 to 6600 on 3/8 Ocala Speedway track. The car was faster too. Sportsman division.
The Nascar Napa 15 car I have I switched to a 686 final and hit the rev. limit at 7800 at the end of the straight away, which was perfect for that motor. Its built for 8500 max. It pulls best at 6100 to 7700.
