Yep! 10,000US$ to win!!!!! But you know what, out of the 50 some+ that attempt to qualify every year, only 26 take the green, and out of those 26, only one get the 10,000US$. I have seen up to 63 LMS cars show up for that race. Same with the Oxford 250, 25,000 to win plus 100 per lap for the leader which is another possible 25,000. We've seen around 100 cars trying to qualify for that race. Those are ''history'' races. It's not only the money, but the glory to win those races. Am I good enough???? Do I have what it takes????

So if one promoter in your part of Fla would build one like these, I'm sure he could find a level of success he would have never dream of. Look at the Snowball Derby, not an easy one to win either, but it's packed with cars and fans!!!!!!!

And in some particular cases, if some racers cannot attend this year, they can plan acccordingly for the futur.

Well how much does the rest of the field get. I think that 10th place gets the same money as the CCMP 150 gets to win. What does it pay to start? You see, that makes it affordable for a guy just to show up. And the Snowball. It pays $20,000 to win, 10th pays $2500 and I think it was $1450 to start. Not $350 like CCMP. And you tell me how many little teams were at either race you speek of. Last year Stephen Wallace spent $40,000 on tires alone for the Snowball. Like I said before. Only the rich teams will show up. I think that from Florida there was about 6 teams that could afford to go to the Snowball. If you really look at it there wasn't a state that had over 12 drivers that could afford to go. If the Snowball would have put a cap on some things and tried to make it "affordable" for the racers there might have been over 25 cars from Florida alone and maybe over 200 cars. Not just 60 or 70 cars from 50 states. That is sad. It is sad to see that racing has become so unaffordable to the racers that the biggest late model race of the year can only draw about 60 to 70 cars from 50 states. Just look at the Governors Cup. Second biggest race in Florida and they can't even fill the field. Why? Because it is not affordable to the racer and the fan turn out was sad also.

I did the math for my team to go run the Snowflake. It was around $9000 to $10000 to run the race. It paid $7000 to win. Again, not affordable to the racer. I know of at least 12 teams that would have gone to the Snowflake but didn't because it was not affordable ot the racers.

I just don't understand why you think that the tracks don't need to try to make affordable for the racers. But if you don't mind watching 8 or so cars more power to ya'.

Take a look at this new FAST starting starting in Florida. They might have a good turnout in the first couple races until the racers figure out that it is not affordable to run because they are competing against the dollar. Once they find out that the winner has $3000 to $4000 per shock, $2000 per wheel on brakes, carbon fiber driveshafts and componets, $10000 in a lightened transmission, so on and so on because the series didn't put a cap on anything. And if they want to win they need to do about $40000 in upgrades to their car. They will find that the series did not make it affordable to the racer and they will find somewhere else to race and the series will fall off to well under 20 cars.

I don't care what anybody says, you have to make it affordable to the racer or you will only have a few cars and no fans.

I like the idea of the 3 segment format. However, I can understand Mr. South's arguments as well. If refueling is allowed then run all the cars across the scales before going out for the feature or don't allow refueling. To cut out the need for extra sets of tires, don't allow tires to be changed during the break. Tires may only be changed during the actual races. i.e. a caution or green flag racing. This could be interesting during the last segment when caution laps aren't counted. Maybe allow tire changes only under counted cautions; unless you have a flat, in which case you can only change the flat. Make the breaks short so there is only time for quick adjustments and relining the field. Actually reline the field before allowing work on the cars. 10 minutes max from end of segment to green of next. This eliminates the need for extra tires or crew.
This should make the race more interesting to the fans and eliminate most of the additional expenses that Mr. South mentioned. I agree that the purse should be higher through the field but that is up to the track.

The last that we heard at the last race at CCMP was that it was 150 laps with the top 12 qualifiers drawing a pill to start. Lap leader money. And another $1000 bonus to win if you qualified in the top ten and started at the rear. Believe me, we were going there to try to get in that top 10 and start at the rear. But now with a break at half way and an inverison and money at that time I would have to rethink that. I would have to see what makes better sence $$$.
