      just a question

You are calling this a memorial race, might I ask who it is in memory of?

Starting anything more than 24 is foolish. It WILL be a crashfest, with a bazillion laps of caution.

You need to think about a B-Main or some other plan IF you get anything over 24 entered.

Take the top 10 from qualifying, run 2 B- Mains that put 6 each into the feature, and 2 Provisionals. That's 24... every car gets a chance to race, and most of the scrubby cars won't get the chance to screw up the 150 lapper.

          Maybe....

....it's to celebrate the memory of good short track racing in Florida.....

....'cuz it's been dead for quite a while now.

oops....did I say that out loud?.....

tsk tsk....me and my loudmouth keyboard.

            Anwsering your questio.

Yes, Osmosis Jones is right. We call it a Memorial Race to remember all of the Short Track Racers that we have lost. If you have never been to CCMP our turn four has a hill that is called Memorial Hill. It has a 14 ft tall Helmet done up in Dale E Sr. image along with two flag polls to fly our Branches on our Countries Military Service and the Memory of the 911 tragedy . Every track has is history of all the Drivers that have raced and past on but made this the Sport what it is. We felt rather than Honor one Driver that it would be approate to have the first race of each year be the Biggest Event starting out the New Year of racing. We have had some suggestion about the amount of car count starting the race. So please give your option on your thoughts. We are expecting a large field of Late Models. The concern was that more than 24 is a crash fest. We always start the whole field. We had 100 lap race starting 34 cars Mike Franklin won with no yellows, yes 100 laps green flag racing. We started 38 cars in 2007 with over 46 entering. The field was set at 34, but the drivers when wanted all the ones that could start and be part of this Race. We are having the second curve compound put down for the race. This will make the two groove racing going throughout the Race. So please give view and we keep you up to date on the commitment on the 150 sponsored laps. Anyone wanting to be part of this event call Sherri Krum 941-809-3498 or me at 813-817-7223.
Thanks and looking forward to your input!!!

Input from the Teams. And the list of Teams coming.

Some have ask that we count all the laps till lap 100 then the next 25 only count the first three caution laps. The last 25 green. This sounds good to me and will speed up the show if someone loses a motor or a long cleanup. Now here is the list of Teams they ask for their slab or where they are at as far as making it to the show.
              Joe Winchell
              Steve Dorer
              Blake Koch LM and FASTRUCK
Wayne Anderson (90% sure to be there)
              Travis Hanson
              Brian Blum
              Team Bigley (Drivers TBA)
              Richie Anderson
              Steve Gill
Barry Bartlett III (hoping to get the parts back for his rear end)
              Johnny Kay
              Gary Padual
              Bobby Shelton
              Tuffy Hester
              Patrick Starpoli
              Ross Chastain
              Andrew Carbonell
              Dustin Dunn

This is just the first day with 18 days left to get ready for our Biggest Race of the YEAR!!!
              Stay tuned.

Add other name to the list. But not just another name.

Add Dustin Dunn to the list. He is HOT of the last WIN at CCMP. Now you want to hear about a racing Family. Team Dunn will practice Friday night qualify and then get on an airplane for the ASA Banquet to receive the runner up for the ASA Late Model South Trophy and check. Then get back on a plane to get ready for the 150 on Sunday. Now that loving RACING!!!!!
Thanks for all the memories and the support over the years.

                  Sure....that's what I meant....kinda sorta.....

I guess I was being just a little obtuse......my bad.

"Every track has is history of all the Drivers that have raced and past on but made this the Sport what it is. We felt rather than Honor one Driver that it would be approate to have the first race of each year be the Biggest Event starting out the New Year of racing."

So you're saying that there won't be any more "memorial" races for the rest of the year?

And is it just me or doesn't it seem like every race down there is kinda sorta hyped as the "biggest race of the year"???....

And if you say that your first event is the biggest and best show of the year, doesn't that kinda sorta set up everything that follows as unexciting and run of the mill plain?

                  Just wonderin'......

I like the idea of a single memorial race. I've been thinking for years that it is a bit of a buzz-kill to have so many memorials. Does the idea of a big race have to revolve around someone who is gone? Can't we celebrate the living and things that are going on now?

Yes, I am very aware that racing is way of life for most of us, not just a hobby. And I know it is so important to stay in touch with our past, particularly with the great figures who came before us and who built this sport. I am all for preserving the continuity of racing that spans generations, BUT I suggest it be done with a "Racing Heroes Festival", or something to roll all the memorials into one big event. Good idea Bobby.

Osmo, according to NASCAR they have always started their year with the "biggest and best" show. It seems to work pretty well for them.

                      Huh...(scratching head)...that's funny....

....cuz I remember when NASCAR (as you call it....NASCRAP I calls it) used to start their season out at a boring, little, lefty-righty place called Riverside out in (ugh) California....and if this (present day) is NASCAR doing pretty good, well then maybe they should go BACK to opening up with a girlieman course before they go for the big two and a half mile yawn they call Daytona.

"according to NASCAR they have always started their year with the "biggest and best" show"

Just wonderin' (again) though.....who did you check with at the NASCAR offices for that tidbit of misinformation?

                      BUT!

You are right about one thing. It is a buzz kill when everyone thinks that there needs to be a "Memorial" race for every racer who passes away.

This 150 race has been around for over 15 years at Charlotte County.

Sorry if I didn't say it right OSMOSIS. It used to be the Bryon Davidson 150 for years at Charlotte County. When we bought it in 2007 it was renamed the Late Model 150 Memorial to remember all of the Drivers that have made the Sport what is today. Also with Jay and DAARA given us the Helmet we felt would be fitting the name the turn 4 hill Memorial Hill. We did not mean to take anything away from the other tracks. It just what we wanted to do for all the one we have lost. The Flag Polls were add to remember the day the World changed 9-11-2001.
Now, If you could give any advise on the format of the race.
                        Thanks Bobby Diehl
