yea everyone was told there would be no doughnuts or polish victory laps but somehow on sat. night after augie grill won the flake he did a polish victory lap all the way against the outside wall and even parked his car on the front stretch backwards in victory lane. Now which way would gravity make mercury flow at that point???? Its amazing what that guy gets away with sometimes lol

Ok, I am sure I will get alot of feedback from this but honestly, how many racers do you think have the mercury??? Since it is so toxic and everything has to be rebuilt, as to say, after a spill, how many do you think are dumb enough to do such a stupid thing????

The same ones who soak their tires with deadly cancer causing agents. Many racers don't care, they just want to go faster.

Waltrip, and others, also had 50 lb radios to increase LS weight during qualifying..
Smokey Yunich was the Godfather of cheating or atleast stretching the "grey" area. He actually built an entire car that was like 10% smaller than the actual car. That is genius.
Racers will do anything to get an advantage and win races. That is half the fun of racing is trying to figure out a way to stretch the rules to gain an advantage. This is why NASCAR sucks these days, there is no creativity allowed, no "massaging" bodies or rules. It is far more ingenius to fill the roll cage with mercury (stupid as well) and lock it in on the left side, or put extra fuel in the roll cage, or put lead pellots in the fuel tank etc..etc..than to buy traction control off the shelf. You don't think Chad Knauss is trying everything he can...he was warned a couple of time this year to not bring certain cars back to the track for pushing the envelope on the rules. Its not cheating......its racing.

It was 1967. That Chevelle was 15/16ths scale. It had a belly pan, a spoiler molded into the upper lip of the rear of the roof, and a buncha other stuff. NA$CAR literally tore the car apart in tech, including removing the fuel cell. They told Smokey, "Don't ever bring that car back. You got to fix 14 things on our list before it's legal." Smokey hopped in the car, fired it up - *WITH THE FUEL CELL LAYING ON THE GROUND* - and said, "Better make it fifteen." Apparently, the car had about a 2" fuel line running through the roll cage that an extra four gallons of fuel.

In 2006, Knaus brought a Smokey Yunick-like car to Daytona. Apparently, they actually got the car on the track for practice. The car had a device in it that allowed Johnson to raise the back glass flat down the straightaways (for less downforce, less air on the back of the car for more speed), and then lower it back down to get air to the spoiler for rear downforce in the corners. That whole team shoulda been sent home packin', not even allowed to run during the rest of the week. Instead, NA$CAR only suspended Knaus for six races and fined Johnson and Hendrick 25 points. Johnson ended up winning the championship for his first one.

There was a driver in the late 80's or early 90's who was caught at the Snowball Derby with mercury in his frame. He had a pump that would pump it to the left side when needed. I won't name him, but it did happen.
