I have made several phone calls and to my knowledge nobody in Florida has been invited to join S.E.A.L.. Nobody even knew this alliance was being formed. Do you have any information as to who in Florida they have contacted or invited?

The "Florida" spec engine has proven itself on the track, on the dyno and in racers wallets as the leader in performance and reliability.

Florida Super Late Model Drivers and Fans......If you feel alone it's not because your being left out. It's because your in the lead.

Review the rules. Yeah the Snowball allowed the FASCAR spec engine but gave it the same rules as a 30K+ motor.

Now I know I'm going ro get beat up hear but hey, Snowball has been listening to you the whole time here and you keep telling him (Tim) how right he is. It's no wonder the state of Super Late Model Racing here.

Oh, by the way, their "spec" motor won that race this weekend and yours couldn't qualify in the top 20.

Also remember this:

For the GOV Cup, NSS said come with your car and it can fit your rulebook or ours. We don't care. Come and get the $10,000 if you think you can.

I now understand alot better why Tim Russell didn't waste his money going with his FASCAR spec motor for the $10,000.

And most importantly remember this.....they pay the same for their motors as we do for ours.

But we created too much..........for the same price........for SUPER LATE MODELS!!!!!!........is anyones common sense kicking in here???

And has anyone heard from the S.E.A.L. people since this Florida message forum validated to RJ Scott how right he was to its existence??

Look up the history here on Karnac and review. Don't dispell Karnac as something small in the world of short track racing.....Snowball (Tim) and RJ know it's their only way in. And they can only relay what they hear back from here. There is no other outlet.

Your motor is better for the money and they don't want any part of it. Sounds like Apple and PC over the last 20 years. The reality is it doesn't matter that yours is better, everybody else has the other kind and is not interested in how cool yours is - because at the end of the day they have a business to run and are forced into using the "uncool" one. What you need to do is make some inroads with those that matter so your motor will be relevant in a more global sense and so that we can have some equitable unification so i can have a decent speedweeks. As it sits, most of my money will be going to VSP as a result of the lack of interest by other SLM drivers in playing against your motor.

Perfect response Bubba. I wish I could write my original posts in a different way. What I am really wondering is how the issue is viewed now. And what can be done to bridge the gap? Both programs are great programs and are doing the job they were meant to do. But they appear to be operating against each other and it has divided the racers further.

The question I never got answered was this. The perception was that you couldn't come to FL and compete against the spec motor. Why weren't the racers asking north of the border why are they not on this motor package? Why were they being fed a lesser product for the same price? Because they have too much power? Because they were restricted to FL builders? That can be changed with a few phone calls and a meeting. It's not hard to see it was political.

It has been said that it was Don, well he's gone, what or who is it now?

I don't knw the rights and wrongs on this issue, but I did see 2 things lately:

The Derby got about 62 cars, from somewhere around 12 different states.

The Governors Cup had 36 (or so), and not one single out of state car.

This alone tells me something!

If it isnt a viable option in the rule book nobody will run them, so reach out to CRA, PASS, whoever and get a more equitable rules package. But if as you say, your motor has more power, don't you think they are within their rights to even things out with the other motors (ala weight, etc)?

Absolutely! I have received some phone calls this week that have enlightened me better to the situation. Guess everyone has to do what they have to do. It's like waiting for a championship game that's been postponed indefinately. Guess there's still more that has to play out here.

SLM Engines

The Current CRA and Snowball Derby rules package DO allow for the Florida Spec Engines to run with the appropriate carb.

After extensive testing, the different carb was needed to level the playing field. We've welcomed all racers to come run, but couldn't justify rendering everyone else's equipment useless by allowing the Florida engine to race with superior power (hence the equalizing effort with differnt carb)

The other northern sealed engines were built to be comparable to the 9 to 1s and steel heads...they could have been built to perform at a higher level if we wanted them to...but had no desire to build them to out perform what everyone currently had.

I had a call today from a Florida leader that wanted pursue trying to bring the Florida SPEC engines more in line (with something like a cam change)...maybe in 2011.

We all want to work together...and with the leadership landscape changing for Florida racing...the proper lines of communication may be opening up!

While I wish I had a different means of doing it I'm glad it had the end result I was after.


Before anyone starts changing parts, I think the PASS race at NSS in January will tell a better picture when Rowe and Clark come and compete. Can't wait for that show.

I would like to see a breakdown of what the snowball finishers were running. This is not a loaded question....I don't know the answer but Ricky has the notes I'm sure.

Remember back when Choquette, Fritts, and Scofield has their 40k+ fire breathing Fords?.....That is the motor that the FASCAR spec motor was designed to try and compete against(it never did and nor would the northern motor)......economical sense took over...before anyone starts changing internal engine parts and making the racer spend money, I would look at other avenues....enevitably someone will start spending money again and then we are back to the start.

We saw Fritts steamroll thru Speedfest with this combination and that was FASCAR and CRA competitng. Just a thought.
