  • how come it was safer to run ten and 12 inch tires

back ten years ago in 2200 lbs cars and 2400 lbs cars don't say that the cars are faster today than they were then and thats the reason

because eddie king david king jimmy castle berry junior purcell use to eat the v8 alive i have seen dunkin -porter -and bunch late model drivers do all they could to pass the super sixes out of corner or down straightways

so maybee it might have been little longer but still what i'm getting at running open wheel modifieds on eight inch tires how about putting them on 10 inch tires i'm sure that the cars are safer now than they were back in day

put them on ten inch tires maybe we can get three races out of them instead of one and half or two races

Use a set of tires three weeks instead one week and half.....sounds like a good thing to me.

Take a poll! I bet you would lose! 10 inch tires would ruin local modified racing! I have heard of guys running 3 to 4 weeks on 8 inch treaded tires. Run them till the grooves are gone and still fast.

well lets see are the ones with the wore out tires

the one's that are turned sideways coming out of corner or spun out half way down straight way or the one's that say well i think i can get one more race on right rear

maybee i'll just put a new right front on me i just think that the open wheels would be better on ten inch tires than motor cycle tires if you gonna race put on racing tires

up north they run on 12 13 15 16 on tracks lot bigger that our local tracks and they don't follow the leader . i just want to see some racing and some passing instead of like the last race at auburndale 40 laps follow the leader one yellow for a car with no tires and the car that had to go to bottom to miss that car had a set of new motor cycle tires on his car

i'm sure there are probably some drivers in open wheel class that likes the 8 inch tires if they start up front no body can pass them and if ever body were on ten inch there would be some action and cars would not be single file

I don't know how many races you have been to at Auburndale but any class that is a sportsman or higher has a VERY DIFFICULT, almost impossible time passing without moving the car in front of you. IT is a flat 1/4 mile track with one groove. Every LM race we have been to there, qualifying is the most important laps of the night. I think we raced there 7 or 8 times over the last year and half and the leader won from the pole at least 6 of those times and the other two got "helped" out of the way.

The Only Owm Up North That Run 10" Tires Are Nascar Type Cars Dirt Big Block Type Cars.
You Put 20" Tires On A Car At A-dale And You Still Will Not Be Able To Pass On The Outside.

Look at the expense to convert. Wheels (at least 2 sets), Spindles, Rear Ends for those who don't have at least a floater and so on.

SPINDLES -REAR ENDS WHAT KIND OF CAR OR DO YOU EVEN RACE TO GO TO TEN INCH TIRES YOU JUST BUY THE WHEELS AND TIRES AND MOUNT THEM

YOU ALREADY GOT A QUICK CHANGE YOU DO KNOW WHAT A QUICK CHANGE IS NOW NOT A 10 BOLT CHEVY BUT LIKE WINTERS -AND I'M SURE EVER BODY HAS GOOD A-ARMS AND SPINDLES AND BRAKES .

AND WHO EVER CONVINCED YOU THAT YOU CAN'T PASS ON OUT SIDE BETTER WAKE UP PUT TWO MORE INCHES OF RUBBER ON THE OPEN WHEELS AND I GUARNTEE YOU THERE THERE WON'T BE NO FOLLOW THE LEADER

I DON'T THINK THAT RACE TRACKS CAN STAND MANY MORE NIGHTS OF STANDS BEING EMPTY THEY WANT TO SEE SOME ENTERTAINMENT :

Yea right! 10 inch wheels on stock spindle BEARINGS with the offset some guys run and the increased speed, there WILL be issues. And I have seen Modifieds still today with stock 9 inch rears in them with stock axles (don't want to mention names). By the way, My car can and does pass on the outside on 8 in. tires. Won 6 features at Orlando and one at New Smyrna this year running/passing on the outside.

Ron is forgetting that the car on the inside also has 10 tires.

All things being equal, the faster the cars go, the harder it is to pass at a tight track like Auburndale. Want to improve the show? Slow the cars down so they can run door to door easier. Make them less expensive so there may even be more of them.

bone man most of what you say is true most of time

we are kind of slow at work today and i guess
i'm bored - yes you are right about car on inside using the out side car but last time last year at charlotte county it cost me 6 months probation went to jail cost a whole lot of money . next how do you cut the cost of open wheel modifieds would you even believe how much is in some of them cars

slow them down yeah buy you one show me and next year within 15 miles of my shop there will be 10 new one's plus i got 2 and my buddy has a new one so there ain't gonna be no shortage of open wheels there are 23 cars that show up at auburndale just about ever time that are within 12000 of second of each other and citrus county allways has full field of cars

so that idea of slowing them down and bunching them up won't work cause you ain't gonna beat on them cars and get away with it

Maybe Make A Rule That All Of Ron's Cars Can Run On 10" Tires.
                          And Start On The Pole.

to stay out of this but decided not to. First I don't think it a really bad deal to run 10 inch tires and would love to run them but you would have to change somethings on the cars and that would create more expense. You would or should atleast change the right front spindle, you would need to use better brakes, and buy different wheels just to name a few. Not everyone runs at A-Dale and you would need these things for NSS and OSW. The guys I've talked to for the most part like the treaded tires and by the car counts at A-Dale and Citrus it most be working and also the better purse at both tracks. I've been to A-Dale once this year to watch the mods and the guy that won did start on the poll but he was in his on zip code by the end of the race. I did see some passing and it was a good race. I wouldn't do anything to upset the apple cart at either track.

ok last post about tires leave them on 8 inch tires

also this ain't no put down dd38 bring that orlando hot rod over to auburndale or citrus and show us how to pass on out side with them tires down to can't see lines any more --- and to jg 72 we don't need that much of a handicap just my cars with 10 inch tires and start on pole

but would be nice to pull a pill closer than 297 or 345

i guess i was just gready wanting to see the open wheels run another 1/2 second faster or more

but after getting at least 23 calls and a bunch of drivers coming by shop leave them on 8 inch tires like a lot of drivers said and i won't mention any names some of them all ready got better that 30.000 or more in there car all ready

yeah i know little johnnie go faster only got 500 dollars in his car and susie wins it all did not spend much either

so gentle start your engines and soak them tires polished them heads put all that good stuff in engine make lite make it fast make that roller motor roll turn it 8400 rpm put good chip in it set fast time start on pole and rock and roll

and if it won't hook up call davis for 7700 dollars they can make it hook up last but not least get gold track i think they got one better but this one has less maintaince

ever body have a happy holiday and happy new year
