  • Reutimann reunion? Don't get it

OK, I get the following apology from Bill Green, but I thought the whole event was cancelled or postponed, and if it was, I'm not sure why he's apologizing. Did the event go on, and only the broadcast was cancelled?

Apology To Florida's Legendary Reutimann Family & Fans
by BILL GREEN, "From Behind The MIC!"

Ellenton, FL (Nov. 26, 2009) I would personally like to apologize to all the Reutimann Family & Fans for any inconvenience the cancellation of the RealRacinUSA.com Radio Show portion of the Reutimann Family Reunion & "OPEN HOUSE" scheduled for Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Reutimann Race Shop, caused any of the family members, longtime friends and loyal Reutimann fans.

While the decision to cancel the Radio Show rest squarely on the shoulders of myself and my partners at RealRacinUSA.com, we did not do this without a lot of consideration for the same family members, longtime friends and loyal Reutimann fans we disappointed.

Considering the forecast for rains throughout the day that would negatively affect satellite link hookup and the comfort of attendees attending the event, we felt it was in the best interest of everyone that we not attempt the Radio Show on this particular day.

Our decision should in no way reflect poorly on the lifelong commitment the Reutimann Family has made to central Florida racing and currently to the National NASCAR racing audience. Given the opportunity, we hope to reschedule the event at a future date that is convenient for the Reutimann Family, plus works into the Holiday and Racing event calendars at a better time.

In closing, the staff at RealRacinUSA.com hopes the 30,000 plus email sent out to Florida Radio Stations, TV Stations, local Newspapers and thousands of RealRacinUSA.com fans on behalf of the David Reutimann Foundation Charity Cookout, Auction & Golf Tournament help make 2009 a record year for the Foundation.

    Thank You For your Support,

    BILL GREEN

I was under the impression the event was cancelled, not just the radio portion. I would have liked to attend.

I wil admit, I didn't actually open the thread about the cancellation, so I don't know the wording of it. But, just reading the headline, it looked like the function itself was not going to happen.

That's the impression that I got as well. The way that it was worded, it looked like the entire event was canceled due to the weather. And due to that I told at least two people who had planned on going that the event had been called off.

So I guess a lot of people got the same message from the posting and failed to show up, and now a sort of round and about apology is being offered?

The first posting was poorly worded to begin with, and the apology is about as useless in getting the message across as the first mistake was. If you need to say something, just say it. Don't try to dance around what needs to be said.

So you are saying the whole program was not cancelled .Just the radio show. That really stinks because I was going and did not go because I thought it was all cancelled due to the weather. Was really looking forward to seeing the event.

Same here... understood the annoucement to say IT was cancelled.

Actually, I felt lucky at the time (that I did see the annoucement) as I was about to leave and thought.. "Boy, that just saved me the drive up there".
Now I find out, it wasn't cancelled, just the radio show that I didn't care about anyway.

Only thing I can think of now... ITS A DAMN SHAME! I was taking two rug rats from the neighborhood that were all excited about seeing David in person.
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

              My understanding!

For what its worth. I was set to go to the open house Wed, in fact I got as far as Bill Greens house. The event, as I understand it, is a 3 day event to raise funds for the familys favorite Charity. It was not cancelled. The fund raising went on. What was cancelled was the open house. This was done as Jack talked to the Reutimanns. The open house is held at their shop which is a 5 bay garage. The shop would have been open so you could see their race cars under constrution or repair. The main part of the open house is held between their house and the garage, so everyone would have been outside in the rain. The only ones dry would have been us doing the interviews in the garage. The decision to cancel the open house was a joint decision with the Famiy. It is also my understanding that the open house will be re-scheduled at a later date. I am sorry there was so much misunderstanding but no malice was intended. Bob...

So the open house was cancelled, but not the whole fund-raising weekend? That pretty much explains it, Bob, thanks. Sorry for the confusion. Just glad I didn't miss the open house, because I and a lot of people would like to go if and when it happens.
