  • Found, Location for new track

Found a prefect location for a new race race track.
At 1-75 and S.R. 54 in Wesley Chapel.
The new mall is on hold for 10 years. I doubt it will ever open.
The land is all clear, has stop lights inplace.
    Anybody think it will work?

The location of a business is always the right one, as long as the offered product is interesting and attracting to customer, from accomadation stores to speedways.

We've seen race tracks in the middle of nowhere being successfull and others close to big cities struggling and or closing, Hialeah being a sad exemple.

Just look when they announced they were closing Hialeah Speedway, the crowd and car count on hand that night, where the .... were they the week before??????? And the track did not move!!!! Same location..

So, i would believe the product and its presentation is more important than the location.

I think SR 54 is to far south and the urban sprawl would catch up with it. I think the perfect place would be near the Sumter Correctional or Coleman Federal Prison. Easy access form Citrus,Ocala, or Orlando with the turnpike and I-75 right there. Who's gonna complain about noise? the prisoners?, tough crap your in prison. You wouldn't have to worry about developement getting to close , who want's to live next to a prison anyhow.

The location of a business is always the right onenot quite true. i've seen restaurants ( Quizno's ) right next to the interstate which died because you had to wind around back into what looked like a small business complex to get to it.

it was in a place where no one would expect to look for a fast food joint ... so no one looked for a restaurant there.

                Great Spot for a Track

Given land values, the EPA and various other state, county and city governments I seriously doubt any new short track will ever be built in Florida. A few years back there was to be one built next to the flea market just off I-95 in Melbourne. Never happened. And what about the one in Ft. Meade that was built but never opened?

With the loss of tracks in Jax, St. Pete, Hialeah, Lakeland and Okeechobee, some of them long standing, why in the world would anyone think they could build something new and make it successful? Add to the above St. Augustine which has been quiet for many years and may never again hold a race.

Be thankful for the tracks we have and support them to the fullest. No one is ever sure when one will close over night as happened at Jax.

There is only one way that I know a 1/4 or 1/3 mile oval track[sport park] can be built and run in south fla.=by Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida.
If a good work up could be done by some one or group and taken to them, combind with 1/4drag strip ,auto race school ,fair etc.
Ya got to cover a lot of angles now days.
Years back I harped to many about a drag strip at county line;there is one there now, just smaller then I was taking about[ 1/8mile drag].

Isnt that South Georgia Motorsports Park now? The people at lamplighter village bitched about the noise so the builders moved up there. I may be wrong though

I grew up in the Golden Glades when they were building it in the mid 50's.
They were finishing the turnpike 2 blocks from my house where it dumps into I-95.
